Pakistan cricket captain barred from talking to press

Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif has been barred from speaking to the press by Pakistan Cricket Board. When the team arrived at Karachi’s international airport, a private tv channel asked for Latif’s comments but to their surprise they were told that Latif is barred from speaking to the press. Pakistan Cricket Board took a strong notice of Latif’s frank and honest opinion against the selection policy for the tri-series in Sri Lanka. Latif had criticised the policy of frequentic changes in the team following axing of four players from the winning team of Sharjah. PCB chairman Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia and other top officials did not like Latif’s frank opinion and differ from Latif’s statement. Latif also sparked harsh response from the PCB heirarchy when he stated that India and Pakistan should resume cricketing ties and if India is not coming to Pakistan, Pakistan should tour India. This is a stark contrast from the PCB’s policy which maintains that in case of resumption of ties with India, its India’s turn to tour Pakistan.
Reports suggested PCB Chief Executive Ramiz Raja briefed Latif and advised him not to issue statements like he did in the last two weeks.
But can Latif, being frank and honest in his opinion, hold his tounge and is it justified to bar the skipper from talking to the press?
