Rasams for NewBorns

I am collecting all the Rasams that take place when a baby is born, I dunno if they are Islamic or Cultural Rasams, but then Rasams are Rasams and done out of Khushi

alrite out with it, what what rasams are practiced in your khandans?

Aqeeqa

I don't know if it's rasam but my phoopa celebrated the birth of his kids by firing in the air. I don't like it but it's quite common in the NWFP.

Are there any more?

  • saying Azaan in the babys right ear, (that, I’m assuming is an Islamic thing).

  • shaving the babys head…I have no idea why we do that. My dad did all of ours.

that’s out of khushi…so I guess that’s a rasm too

Another rasam in our family. One of the grandmother/father or any elderly person puts some honey into the newborn baby's mouth. The first person that feeds the baby! It is said that the baby will take the manners and the qualities of that person. lol kind of silly, i dont believe in it. But my dad and grandma did this us.

I believe it's called 'ghurti' in Punjabi. It is more of a teasement afterwards then anything! Don't know of any 'Islamic' background of this.

Very Imp. Rasam Giving everyone 'mithayeE' :~)

.

the moment she lays eyes on her newborn, the pain vanishes away
no wonder women can go for another baby, after going through labor and delivery

If the baby is happy, it will definitely relieve the mother's pain. And so would be the husband when her wife is happy.

There is no doubt that bearing a child is painful thing but most of the women (friend's wife etc.) have said that it is one hell of an experience and they some of them say that coming back home after work and seeing their kids talking things make them forget all their hard work. No wonder, heaven is under the feet of mother.

Btw, does anyone thought of the mental pain a guy goes through during the time of birth as u might have seen a lot of guys going to and fro and smiking outside hospitals?

kaunsi sadi main bethay ho aap?
these days fathers are encouraged to be with the wife throughout the process

.

Anchal, I was just trying to portray the picture of a man’s mental state at the time of birth. It’s not only restricted to desis but gora guys as well are so scared that what could happen.

Sarah, >>>**And you know how it goes, Allah always listens. …Who cares about the mental anguish **

You are right. You just have to have firm belief and you can get whatever you want.

Allah also says that he tests everyone according to their calibre. He must have known that women are more stronger compared to men in that respect. Hence, a mother goes through physical pain but later on wants to go through it again but men only get the mental pressure. Similarly, when it comes to physical strenght men are more stronger compared to women. A woman can mentally torture a man with few tears in her eyes while a man can resort to physical torture. I don’t condone any of them and believe that this is just to balance things by Allah.

.

Check the Thesarus. Equality is another word for balance.

If you are not convinced then you might want to have a sex change operation and then you might be equal to a man.
