Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

:salam:

My wife and I moving to Ras Al Khaimah this summer and we require some information about life in UAE.

  1. Best place for Desi clothes (latest fashion) and tailoring

  2. Desi get togethers e.g. on Eid for people that don’t have families out in UAE

  3. Kids activities and places to visit in and around RAK or neighbouring cities

  4. Cheap flights to visit pakistan and from which airport (RAK, Sharjah or Dubai)

  5. Bus service to Dubai and how long it takes

  6. The best places to visit whilst we will be out there

Also, we would like to know more about Ajman and Sharjah and what we may find there better than RAK.

Will come back with further questions.

:jazak:

**

  1. Best place for Desi clothes (latest fashion) and tailoring

  2. Desi get togethers e.g. on Eid for people that don’t have families out in UAE
…Depends how easy-going you are and what type of family gatherings you like.

  3. Kids activities and places to visit in and around RAK or neighbouring cities

  4. Cheap flights to visit pakistan and from which airport (RAK, Sharjah or Dubai)
…RAK Airways is the cheapest right now and it flies from RAK itself

  5. Bus service to Dubai and how long it takes
** …It will take around 75 minutes to reach Ajman and Sharjah**

  6. The best places to visit whilst we will be out there
…Nothing much in Ajman except coastal line. Sharjah would be a better place for shopping, dining and outing. Dubai will be a comparatively different experience the moment you cross from Sharjah to Dubai

Also, we would like to know more about Ajman and Sharjah and what we may find there better than RAK.
RAK isn’t a happening place. **Especially if you are moving to RAK from a metropolis, you will find it quite dull.

Best of luck :):k:

Re: Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

There is a nice and well settled Pakistani community in Sharjah, so that is where you will find stuff like desi clothing, tailors, etc.

RAK is a bit off the track, so its not exactly next door. As Amal said, about 1.5 hours from Dubai.

RAK airways only flies to Lahore as of now, so if you are from Karachi, you will have to drive/take the bus to Sharjah or Dubai for flights.

RAK is good for camping and picnics. It has beautiful wadis and scenery. And Musandam, Oman is just half an hour away, which is an excellent place to visit.

Re: Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Thanks guys. I forgot to mention we have a little girl too so any kids places around RAK, Sharjah or Ajman.

Amal - elaborate on the different types of family gatherings

Thanks
