Subhanallah! Imagine getting that close to the Ka’ba. Almost makes me cry :teary1: it was so tiny back then.

Ps last picture is cute :cb:

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

A Lot has changed, between that era and the present times
In those days people had to go through real hardship to perform hajj
no decent transport, no facilities that we are so used to now.

May Allah (swt) give this Saa'Dat to every muslim - Ameen

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

^^ Sum Ameen

The technology has made things easier in terms of travel and raihaish, yet there is no intimacy with Ka'ba...if you get my meaning

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

Subhanallah...it does make me appreciate all the things we r so used to...Those peole Mashallah under went so many hardships to be there. Thanks for posting:)

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

Amazing...
I had once found images of the 1930s and 40s and during the flood when the kabah was surrounded with water...

Tells one of how things change so dramatically...

The Hajj now is a much more organized and mechanical experience then the incredible journey it used to be...
Obviously, it still is the pinnacle of one's testimony of faith to Allah SWT.

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

these pics impress me more than modern day pics with people on a 5 star hajj...
nothing wrong with the modern aminities but the older pics kinda shows the dedication of the devotees...

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

And i guess in those days, hajj would be a pretty relaxed affair, with fewer people, no massive crowds, people concerned more about the spiritual part, rather then worrying about transportation, lodging etc. More time to submerge themselves totally into that experience. Hajj these days is a pretty rushed affair, with lotsof non-hajj activities involved in it.

Re: Rare images - Hajj in the year 1953

from an experience perspective, last year I went for hajj was 85, and we picthed out own tent in muzdalfa, dug our own toilet, bought water from turcks in big jerrycans and brought them to our tent etc.

even then many ppl livd in hotels and all, but organized camps were the norm, whether set u by guides or by ppl themselves.
