Rape and murder of 10-year-old child in Islamabad

Dubai: Horrific news of a 10-year-old being allegedly raped and murdered in Islamabad, Pakistan has shocked the country.

The body of a girl, identified as Farishta Mohmand, was found dumped in Chak Shahzad, a suburb in Islamabad. It is believed that she had been missing for five days before being found.

People are also claiming that the police and medical facilities have been unsupportive by refusing to file a first information report (FIR) or conduct a postmortem.

Now, the top trend on Twitter in Pakistan is #JusticeForFarishta and people are demanding action from authorities and expressing their anger.

Twitter user Osama Khilji, @UsamaKhilji, posted: ?Disgusted and horrified. 10-year-old child went missing 5 days ago but police refused to register FIR. She was raped and murdered and #Polyclinic hospital is refusing to carry out postmortem. Shame on this system of useless police and hospitals, only cronyism works. #JusticeForFarishta.?

In another tweet, he detailed what he thought authorities should have done: ?In an effective system, police would have registered FIR upon complaint from the child?s parents about her being missing, traced her and abductors, and prevented her rape and murder. But no, even the hospital won?t carry out a postmortem after all that happened. #JusticeForFarishta?

Tweep @AaliyaShah1 had similar thoughts: ?Police refused to register an FIR. Hospital refused to carry out postmortem. Any specific reason for this criminal act of refusal? I can?t bear to see this horrific scene and dead body of this angel, now think about her family. #JusticeForFarishta?

Twitter user @NaziaMemon01 shared an image that is being identified as Farishta?s father?s, the man is seen crying outside the medical facility her body was refused the postmortem at, according to online posts: ?10-year-old Farishta went to play and didn?t return home, initially police refused to help and delayed the search. After five days her mutilated body recovered from a jungle. She was raped and than murdered. One cannot imagine an agony of a parent. #justiceForFarishta?

However, hours after Khilji?s post was posted, activist Nighat Dad, @nighatdad, replied to it with an update involving Shireen Mazari, Federal Minister for Human Rights in Pakistan: ?Update: Just spoke to @ShireenMazari1 she is following up the case closely,Postmortem has been done and there will be an update on FIR soon. #justiceForFarishta.?

Mazari has not made any updates or statements about the case yet.

Protests
Meanwhile, protests took place around Pakistan, calling for justice for the child.

User @NaimatU33392278 shared an image of a rally: ?Pashtoon want justice for Farishta murder in Islamabad city #JusticeForFarishta.?

Gulalai Ismail, @Gulalai_Ismail, who describes herself as a human rights activist on Twitter, posted: ?Activists are protesting outside the polyclinic hospital demanding post-mortem of 10-year-old child who was brutally killed. She?d gone missing 5 days ago. Billions have been spent on Islamabad to make it safe, but it is still unsafe for our children. #Shame #JusticeForFarishta.?

Rape may be prevalent in many countries but child abduction, rapes and deaths worryingly and disturbingly are becoming more and more common occurrence in Pakistan.

This happens when the perpetrators know fully well they will not be apprehended and will most likely get away with their heinous crimes.

Dangerous place to be for a parent especially parent of a daughter.

The same day someone broke into a house gang-raped a woman and threw acid on her and no outrage. they see someone eating in Ramadhan and they lose it, this is just ignored.

All these things happening in the month of Ramadan makes those crimes even more shocking and hurtful.

Inna lillah.

what a tragic story and sorry state of our society. I wonder what is going to investigate and fix this issue.

Back when Kasur incident happened, there were people like shahid masood came and others were hell bent to say its the dark web and how punjab ministers are involved in protecting them etc. And I debated with them that no its the people, the ultra sick mindset and it doesnt need to be a part of dark web or something. I dont have proper vocabulary to describe these disgusting people. SMH. totally speechless

It was reported that media outlet promoting that Farishta’s parents are Afghani.

Crime happened in the Capital city of Pakistani and our senseless media is focusing on everything but not the crime. Though they are Pakistani and from FATA but it shows how messed up our media.

So now a teenage Hafiz-e-Quran was murdered by a sexual predator who is also a cop on the day of the Eid ! The boy lead his first Taraweeh this Ramadan and then gets killed on morning of Eid as he was walking to the mosque for the Fajr prayers trying to avoid being raped. How barbaric. This insanity is showing no signs of stopping in Pakistan.

How can this insanity go away until Iblees and his followers roam around freely? This madness that’s becoming a growing issue in Pak is only going to get worse, they cannot even contain and stop the widespread problem in Kasur let alone in the whole country. Those who let such people get away with it or influential people whom are involved in this ****… if you can do this do KIDS really no drop of insaniyat in you. Tbh I son’t know what insaniyat is anymore. If someone asks why there is Hell it’s because it is the eternal abode for such devils. First it was very young kids, now they feel comfortable going after a teenager, then it will be the women and so on.

It’s one of the reasons I don’t want kids anymore even tho I love kids alot, the anxiety you would have to carry with you from the second you give birth until the day you leave this world.
