Re: Rani Mukherjee’s “AIYYA” - Official Trailer

I think it is about Marathi Mulgi (girl) and Malayalee boy. It is a remake of Marathi film ‘Gandh’ which had Milind Soman and Sonali Kulkarni,

Three words in Marathi associated with female blushes and shyness Aiyya, Issha , Agabaai. Not exactly easy to translate.

Ayah means maid.

Re: Rani Mukherjee's "AIYYA" - Official Trailer

Issha is commonly used when marathi woman blushes....in marathi movies obviously

The movie is inspired by a marathi film and it's about the religious clashes between western and south india. Rani look beautiful and so funny.

[h=2]Rani Mukherji is back on the silver screen with Anurag Kashyap’s rom-com Aiyyaa where she plays a Marathi girl who falls in love with a Tamil artist leading to North-South cultural clash. TWF correspondent Sreya Basu catches up with the actor on her new film in Mumbaihttp://www.indiablooms.com/BollywoodDetailsPage/2012/bollywoodDetails160912b.php

**How will you describe your film Aiyyaa in one word?

****It’s a full-on mad film. If I call it a ‘different’ film, you will laugh at me as everyone says the same about his/her film. But this film is actually a little *hatke *… it is funny, quirky and a cool movie.

We haven’t seen you in a comedy film for a long time. What made you do one now?

****Since I am doing *Talaash *(psychological thriller opposite Aamir Khan) and have already done *No One Killed Jessica *(2011 political crime thriller), I wanted to do something light. And that’s the reason I said yes to Aiyyaa.

**You have three item numbers in Aiyyaa?

****Well, I won’t call these three songs item numbers but three dhamakedar songs. These are very much part of the narrative … they feature in Meenakshi’s (her character name) dreams … they are all part of her fantasy. Vaibhavi (Merchant) being the choreographer has given her touches to each song and of course Sachin (Kundalkar, director), who wrote the film, gave us the opportunity to do three different kinds of songs. They might look like item numbers but are actually three important songs in the film.

How are the three songs helping in the narrative?

****Sachin wanted the first song to be a lavani (traditional Maharashtrian dance form) number since the protagonist Meenakshi Deshpande was a Marathi girl.

The second song Dreamum Wakeupum is a very South Indian inspired song. And thanks to my hottie hero (Prithviraj Sukumaran) who is a star from the south film industry, the steps came easy. Meenakshi who falls in love with Prithvi aka Surya in the movie and dreams about him where she goes into his world.

The third song Aaga Bai Halla Machaye Re which will be released soon is again a song where Sachin wanted to talk about a woman’s fantasy about a man and how she lusts after a man. Vaibhavi gave the song another layer and asked me to learn belly dancing for it.

So how did you prepare yourself for the lavani number?

****All thanks to Vaibhavi who researched on a number of lavani steps and then gave her own touch to it.

How was your chemistry with Prithviraj Sukumaran?

****Prithviraj in one word is awesome. He is too good and speaks Hindi beautifully.

Anurag Kashyap is generally associated with dark films. Would you like to be a part of his dark films?

****When Anurag came to me with the script of *Aiyyaa, *even before reading the script I told him that I can’t do dark films that you generally make but if you make a happy film, I will definitely be a part of it. He told me that I know you so well that I have come to you with a happy film only.

Are you ready for marriage?

****Meenakshi Deshpande is ready for marriage.

What about Rani Mukherji?

****(Laughs) I can’t answer that now.

It wouldnt be religious. Cultural Clashes would be right word
