While Babar and Rana Sanga (from Mewar state) were in good terms during the fight against the Lodhis, but the situation changed after the war when both parties alleged the others for not performing as agreed. Babar alleged that Rana Sanga didn't made a diversionary attack on Lodhi's army, Rana blamed Babar for occupying lands which had Rana's claim.
Soon after Panipat's war, Rana Sanga manged to arrange a biggest army of 200,000 including Rajputs and other allies including Muhammad Lodhi (brother of Ibrahim Lodhi), Mughal army was very much dishearted and start leaving Babar alone in India, because they didn't like the hottest climate of the country. Above all, Babar's official astrologer Muhammad Sharif predicted that due to adverse aspects of Mars, Babar would be defeated by Rana Sanga's army.
What happened next and how Babar shaped war against Rana as Jihad is the interesting chapter of history, which shows how religion is exploited by rulers for their personal benefits.
Babar who was heavy drinker and addicted to opium vowed not to drink again and won't trim his beard again. he then declared war against Rana ( a Hindu) as Jihad, which boosted the morale of his army and he could defeat Rana's forces in battle of Khanua.
Babar kept on repenting over his wow for not drinking wine. In his own words:
'While others repent and make vow to abstain, I've vowed to abstain and repentant am I'. He is reported to start drinking wine again during last years of his life. During this period of abstinence of wine, he took help of writing.
He was one of the best Turk poets of the time and also wrote in Persian. He is reported to write many books including one on the jurisprudence. But his most interesting and surviving book his memoir (Tuzk e Babri). He used to carry on his register for writing memoir even on his expedition. During such an expedition, when he was writing, a storm destroyed his tent and the register was washed away.. He tried to save the contents, but was not successful completely. Tuzk e Babri does not mention many events due to this event of destruction of the material.
Besides writing the books, Babar has many cultural accomplishment on his credit including some musical compositions and a new style of calligraphy called Babri. But after literature, he was passionate about the gardening. he even laid out gardens during his military expeditions. He laid a garden near Sirhind (Punjab) on his way to Panipat. He also laid out the gardens in Agra and Sikri too.
Babar is reportedly destroyed the jain temple at Gawaliyar as he thought the idols their were explicit. But historians believe that he didn't destroy anyother temple in the region. So Babar seems t o be politically motivated and religiously tolerant to an extent :)
You mean destruction of temples in India were favorable for Pundas?
Pundas don't have problem in Jain temple getting destroyed:), secondly they can create propaganda against anyone if given a chance:) Pundas suffered in Kashmir for 2 months before escaping out, but now Kashmiris are suffering from past 22 years but yet Kashmiri muslims are at fault but not pundas:D even though none of other hindus and sikhs in the valley were target of Sepratists and terrorist:)
After death of Rawan, Saryupareen Brahmins cursed bhagwan Ram of BrahmHatya, killing a brahmin is biggest sin in Hinduism and Bhagwan has to establish 101 Shivlingam across sub continent:D. Bhagwan ko nahi chhora baaki sab kya cheez hai:D
Unhe nahi mila to kisi ko Kashmir nahi milega:), they made Kashmir a symbol of Indian unity, sri nagar will fall only after fall of Delhi:D
Ghar ka Bhedi Lanka dhaye, means the insider destroys lanka. Rawan’s brother Vibhishan sided with Bhagwan Ram:) but Rawan wanted Moksha hence he knew abducting Maata Seeta is the only way:)
No one could destroy them, Akbar needed them hence he was great, Aurangzeb didn’t like them hence he was Rawan of Mughal dynasty. Brits despised them after 1857 hence firangis were mixture of Rakshas(sri lankans) and Monkeys:D etc
The problem with wikipedia is that any one can edit it, the wiki article on rana sanga is full of mistakes and fabrications. Some corrections i am pointing out to members here
1- Malwa didnt get captured by rana sanga. Malwa was under khiljis, they sought help from Lodhis and shah of gujrat. Rana sanga got defeated. On Wikipedia, some nationalistic indians/rajputs with big ego has written ambigous things that "malwa came under influence of rana sanga". This is "marham patti" on hurt egos and pride. The fact is malwa of khilji was conquered by akbar the great.
2- Its a fact that big chunk of rajput territories were under lodhis . Civil war among afghans erupted, taking advantage of it, rana sanga attempted to recover rajput territories but failed. To teach lesson to rana sanga for his bold attempt, ibrahim lodhi invaded Mewar, homeland of rana sanga, destroyed and sacked it. Rana sanga got defeated by ibrahim lodhi and lost his left arm and got crippled.
3- The weakness of Afghans, was their civil wars and disunity and rana sanga was able to recover his lost territories due to it. Ibrahim was brave king but antagonized most of his afghan nobles when he attempted to bring them under central authority.
4- In war against babur, rana sanga accepted sikandar lodhi as the king of hindostan that why 10 thousands afghans were also part of his army.
