Is it just me noticing or has he been always like this, or may be he is on a decline, asking/saying stupid questions/comments when talking to players in award ceremony?
I heard about his last ‘question’ for Inzamam. This time he was talking to Rana and he said “you have increased headache for your captain, now he has more bowlers to select” I don’t think it is appropriate comment when talking to a player right there in award ceremony.
I don't see much wrong with that comment. I would however like Ramiz to interview Inzi in urdu just like he does Yousuf, Rana and many others.
But he does sometimes say stupid things esp. when he's commentating with Manjrekar. e.g. if Manjrekar is being critical of something/someone, Ramiz often tends to go with the flow and agree with him rather than putting forward his own point of view.
nothing wrong with the comment.he is a much better commentator than aamir sohail and sikandar bakht.sikandar bakhts' english was a bit dodgy and aamir sohail sounded a bit arrogant at times.
I am not sure if we should give credit to someone who may be better than some stupid commentators, but I will agree with the fact that Ramiz tends to go the wrong way when he is dealing with Pakistani or sub continent players. Lately, I dont wait to see prize ceremony especially if Ramiz is out there in the field.
Look at Ian Bishop comments on the pitch and then look at Ramiz comments. First he is acting more as an actor or modeling person than an ex cricketers and cricket experts. When we watch Aussies, English, WI or SA and even Indian (Shastri) commentators commenting on pitches, they kneel down on the pitch, shows the crack, comment on the grass and potential breakage of the pitch, but Ramiz would rather act like he is a singer with long hair and just out there with his microphone and waiting for his music to start so that he could sing.
Also I found him disrespectful to Pakistani players when he asks them post match questions, I still remember (which was my last time I watched him) when he was out there after first test macth in Lahore and Yousaf after recieving the man of the match prize, went to the microphone and Ramiz sent him away and rather started asking questions from Lara (Though he was rightly respectful to Lara).
Nothing wrong with him ,he is the best comentator of pakistan now,you cant count one or two comments bad ,after all he has to speak the whole day.If there is better comentator than him in Pakistan then please tell me?
Well he was going to say, Malik is such a good fielder then Malik dropped the catch and he said in laughing mode, he is a crap fielder, that he led me down, and he clarified that he was going to say he is such a good fielder.
I think there was nothing wrong with that comment, if you want them to be robot then you should have robotes not human commentating.
We criticize so much honestly, they are humans!!!!!!!!!
He's an excellent commentator and the best that we have by far! Nothing wrong with what he said. And his comment about Shoaib, I heard it too...he dropped a dolly, so yea, at the moment he was a crap fielder...:p he's funny at times.
I still remember his response to Sanjay in last night's game when Sanjay was questioning the rule of the runner and whether it should be allowed...and Ramiz said very calmly...that its Saeed Anwar's 194 against India which is still hurting you because he made that innings with a runner :p
He may be the best commentator we have, but as pointed in earlier threads he made a comment about Abdul Rehman (?) where Inzi was blank for few secs and Ramiz starts laughing. You may be great as Dean Jones (or whoever that batsman was :p) but just like the 'terrorist' comment can bite you in behind, similarly making stupid comments sometimes do tick people off. Anyway, I am glad I don't hear commentary most of the times anyways :D
Rameez may not be the best commentator in the world but he is certainly pretty good now. I remember earlier on in his commentating career, he used to criticize Pakistani players a lot so that he won't appear biased or anything but I think after a while, he realized that it just made him look like a loser trying to hold on to his job and than he dropped the act. He has pretty good knowledge of the game of cricket and can be pretty entertaining at times too. I hate commentators who either talk about the action on the pitch constantly or deviate to other subjects for an extended period of time. Rameez, in my opinion, knows how to balance the two just right.
ramiz loves to be 'fair' and in the process he loses credibility cuz he goes out of his way to make his views balanced. Having said that, he is the best we got.
I was much impressed with Dr. Nasim Ashraf in the commentary box during the 5th ODI... he made the most of his opportunity. I hope he considers commentating after his term... Until then, we can hope Ramiz gets better.
Similary, you can ask why Ion Bishop dosen’t have long hair. I don’t think it should be an issue at all.
That’s a better point. I feel he should have had Yousaf standing around to be interviewed later instead of sending him back. Though he is a professional, but I understand you can’t manage to be at your best all the time.
