Re: Ramadhan in USA and Pakistan

there is no difference in how Ramadan is observed, in two diff countries.
practicing Muslims know, that
it is a religious obligation and has certain standard rules to it.

Re: Ramadhan in USA and Pakistan

The only difference I have experienced is that we have a full normal workday here in the US. In Pakistan everyone would go to sleep after fajr at our home, then wake up in the afternoon to start cooking or whatever needed done. My husband worked shorter hours.

Here we stay awake, the kids go to school from 7:30-3:00, my husband and I work normal working hours, and so the fast can be more difficult.

The other difference is that a lot of women go for taraweeh prayers.

Re: Ramadhan in USA and Pakistan

and in winter teh days are much sorther and in summer teh days are much longer, thats a difference also.

you have mosques closeby so many ppl go for jamaat for every prayer, here it is fairly tough and in larger companies ppl try to do jamaat in conf rooms etc.

majority of people there are fasting, here majority are not muslims so u can have business lunches, etc etc where u just dont eat. :)

Re: Ramadhan in USA and Pakistan

short answer:
ahem....

the difference is that you are fasting while most everyone around you is eating and drinking and doing all sort of haram acts..
so here there is a dawah opp. while over there it is peace and ease...

Re: Ramadhan in USA and Pakistan

well there are all sorts of haram things going on in Pakistan too, rishwat, chorri, dakay etc etc, but I guess is decreases a little.
