Ramadan, Saudi style

Modernization, the advent of 24-hour satellite television and indolence bred from years of petrodollar wealth, many Saudis have become slack in their religious duties, sleeping the whole day if possible, and staying up the whole night eating and watching television.

Most Saudis sleep whole day and get up after sunset and stay awake all night eating and watching TV.

you sound jealous :rotfl:

what are petrodollars?????

thats a common arab phenomenon. most restaurants are open all night and full of arabs eating themselves stupid, and they spend the day lazing about..

u got the "staying up all night and watching tv" thing wrong....
there r millions of other things that come before the tv in their priority list for ramadan nights....

next time get ur info right before u post....

P.S. how different is this from out pakistani brothers who stay up all night out with friends, playing cards, carum etc etc????

In pakistan its a matter of personal choice and many people do become nocturnals but in saudia its more organized in that the government declares holidays for most of the month if not all.

that’s me…on the weekends i stay up all nite then sleep til like 1 or 2.. during th week i have school, so i stay busy and it’s a bit more bearable

oh well, its just one more week left so no worries!!

:hehe:

check again…

in saudia the ONLY official holidays r the EID days…
nothing besides these two, no national day, no new year, nothing…

pata nahin kahaan kahaan se faaltu ki information le ke aa jaate hain…

Another post to malign our Saudi brothers , who may be better than many of us. First of all, the post is so childish as if all saudis do is watch tv and stay up all night. Since they sleep all day, so the country is run by angels…??@@!! :mudhosh: :hoonh: :expressionless: :smack2:

Grow up guys!

Ahh I take it you have never been there. The country is not run by farishtas, but by foreigners.

But the original post is just a stereotype. There are lots of Saudis who are hard working and don’t just sit around watching TV all night.

at the end of ramadan you gain or loose weight?

well the Saudi ramadan are an extremely heart warming wonderful experience. its jst amazing. they really celebrate the spirit of the month, the showering of blessings is celebrated in every way possible. the govt reduces work load and all labour work like construction etc is also done in the night. there is A LOT of food for everyone everywhere. mosques dont just have dates and water. there are complete meals served at iftar and sehri.
over all i think this month apart from being an extremely religous time is also a time when Allah showers his blessings in every way and we as muslims should celebrate that. there should be a spirit reflecting the festivity of the time. Saudis do just that. its great.
