Hi everyone I have a question regarding skipping 1 roza in ramadan this year. So I have my exam in Ramadan. First off the roza would be from 3 am till 7pm since I live in Pakistan. I have to travel 3 hours out of city for the exam which starts at 9am and ends at 6pm. It’s a 9 hour exam. So I want to skip the roza but I’m not sure. I feel like Allah won’t be happy and I would automatically mess up my exam. I don’t want to skip the roza but I don’t know if I can travel and manage to get through the extremely extremely important and long exam… can someone tell me what is the right thing to do?
Re: Ramadan question!
It is allowed not to fast when one is traveling and you have to make up for that fast later on.
Re: Ramadan question!
Allow me to correct some of your misconceptions:
-
Allah is not a vengeful God. Nor is He in competition with you, nor does he need us to stroke his ego by worship. So you will not mess up your exam because you upset God. He of Merciful, Loving, Kind, Forgiving and Just
-
He does not require worship or belief out of compulsion. He has commanded worship for our individual and collective societal good, and not to inflict unbearable pain and hardship.
3)Therefore, if you feel you will be physically unwell to perform on the exam, or traveling long distances, etc, and you genuinely care about skipping fast. Then, skip this fast, and make up for it after ramadan.
Re: Ramadan question!
Thank you so much everyone. I just asked because I kept feeling guilty that I’d be doing something wrong. But Allah understands and loves us so I think it will be alright if I make up for it later.
I would probably pass out if I fast and give the exhausting and long exam.
