^ same here. We don’t do a full Iftar spread followed by a full dinner. It’s usually one or the other. And since it is just us two fasting, it’s no problem to throw together a quick chaat or snacks if we feel like having those. The weekends (fri-sun) are spent breaking our rozas at the masjid as my husband and I are both on the Ramadan committee. Our masjid has 4-5 families sign up to provide dinner/Iftar each weekend day.
no preparation ahead, same like above direct dinner sometimes small snacks along wth dinner nothing special, no pakoras inshahallah but frut chaat dhail bhaly alony wth dinner and I never prepared in advance
I usually made and freeze samosa (cocktail) and eggs rolls enough for the month. If I’m really feeling adventous I make and freeze the pakorai for dhai barai. I do the same with Homemade Chicken nuggets - half fry them and freeze.
We also bring home dates (larger quantity then usual); pheoniya (sp); Roo-afza.
Aside from that; I make chats and such on the spot.
I generally prep in advance like boil chanas and beans and freeze for chats and chanas walay chawal, get samosas and rolls, maybe make green chutney and imli chutney a couple of days before. Have something like qeema made and frozen to put in pastas or for a regular Aalo keema kinda dish. I generally do fruit chaat or a dessert with tinned fruits, one fried item, smetimes a chaat and then either a proper dinner like chicken salan with roti/ brown rice or a combo of stuff like burgers, sandwiches, pastas. Leftovers are eaten for sehri too.
Like previous Ramadan since I lost 4 Kgs overall. I plan to stick on the same menu. No preparations ahead for sure!
Will prepare healthy dinner with 1 Single Fresh Fruits on daily basis like Water Melon Slices/ Oranges / Apple Slices/ Mangos Slices etc. In drink I usually go for Milk with Roh Afza or Lemonade since its too hot here in UAE. And Sheri will be leftover Dinner meal.
My neighbors were so caring last time. I am sure this time also I will not have to prepare any Fried Items.
I love the excitement that Ramadan comes with…realy look forward to break iftaars with family and friends. My Ammi always go all out for iftaar and/or dinner…so that’s why I do at my own home too now.
I like to prep and freeze kebabs/samosas/spring rolls/puff pastries a month before Ramadan starts…a week before I make imli chutney/boondhi/dahi baray/stuffed khajoors with badamns etc.
We only do heavy iftar. Samosas is must to freeze. I do used to boil channas and freeze while in Pakistan but as here we get here in can so no need for that. freezing kababs is great too. marination of chicken. other things I do at spot as i dont have small kids to disturb me
Ok so we will go healthy too lol… Will be doing dinner. N occasional fried food soo yeah no more prep ..
but samosas are a must at our place. So I will be making those..
I make egg rolls or patties in advance and freeze those enough for the entire month. And that is it.
We as a family cut down on the traditional iftaris many years ago. My hubby has never been concerned about having the chatpatta items, and even if he did I would not make them. I am a firm believer that during Ramadhan, I need to spend less time in the kitchen versus more.
We do incorporate more liquids, fruit and a general healthy eating attitude during this month, and straight meals, and it has paid off for all of us.
We make rolls, shami kababs and samosas ahead of time and just freeze them.
We don’t do the typical iftaar at all but these things are great for daawats during ramadan
