What's with the hate against moti defense aunties? are they not Muslims too? Does their wide body stature, or their address, or their financial status mean it's fair game to make fun of them?
why the need to put down one set of people (who had the audacity to wear nice clothes and jewelry at an iftari) to praise another set of people?
We don't need nonMuslims, Muslims do a good job of ridiculing each other.
What? That was supposed to be a joke! If I was hating on fat aunties, I'd be hating on my own mother too, Sara. You missed the whole point of my post - that I'd rather see simplistic pictures that make us think and reflect and bring us back down to earth than those that scream materialism in the month of Ramadan. Let me put it this way - I'd rather see an old homeless baba jee reading the Quran rather than a heavily made-up supermodel posing with one. Better? Or am I now hating on supermodels too?

So why didn't you? I don't bite mere bhai.
Argument can go both ways. How can one tell the old babaji is not given the mickey mouse umbrella and a book posing as if he is reading Quran? I mean a heavily made up supermodel can read Quran too, right? How does that make her posing?
I know what you are saying but you do not have to compare two people to glorify one and putting down the other. That is what Sara said I guess and I am saying. That's all. But don't worry I am messing with you here. :D
P.S. I just did not want to drag the discussion/thread earlier.

Let's say both are posed. Which one would strike you the most? We're judging the pictures here, not the people inside the pictures. Which picture would make you think and reflect?

No matter what your intention is but the way you mention Defence auntees, it's bound to offend anyone who is from Defence.
The act of reading Quran is important. Poor, rich, old, young, homeless, supermodel. All the same.
Coming to my original discussion on these so called good photographs, these photographers make other people believe, “These ARE Muslims” by selecting few groups of people.
No they are not the ones only, shown in pictures selected by these sites.
Supermodels can be muslims, can fast and do fast. Muslims are young, old, rich, city dwellers, villagers, drive cars and not just camel riders. Muslims do not just sleep on floors of masjids!

Why do you feel the need to compare and pick on anybody/any group of people to begin with?
Is it not enough to say that you like a picture of homeless baba jee...rather than put down defense aunties/models etc?
No matter what your intention is but the way you mention Defence auntees, it's bound to offend anyone who is from Defence.
I'm not from Defense but I'm getting quite annoyed with A) those who put down others while praising someone else. and B) hating on those who are rich or have money or dress nicely, as if they're materialistic and/or not as religious as the poor. It's not just this post, but many others that I have seen across the board and in real life.
Diwana, read my previous post again. We are judging the pictures here. Not the people, not the act of reading the Quran, not anything else. You are telling me that a supermodel wearing a designer outfit, jewellery and heavy makeup, posing with the Quran will have as much emotional impact on you as an old homeless baba jee reading (or posing to read) the Quran on a footpath. Fair enough. But in my case, that latter will have a much greater emotional impact on me than the former. So we can respectfully agree to disgree here.
As for your point about stereotyping muslims, what pakone said. Let’s not worry about it and focus on the positive.
I think diwana finds the pics dark or whatever so let him, that’s his personal opinion, right? Most people wouldn’t agree with him as it is always the case.
^ ^Many muslims live in poverty, these pictures are real and show that despite their misfortunes, these people still have faith and love in Allah. There's a way of looking at these pictures positively.
I do agree though that the picture taken from behind of the men praying couldve been taken from a better angle lol.
