Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
we don't usually cook a lot during Ramadan. Hubby likes to have paratha and omelet for sehri and for iftar he likes to have milk with rooh afza followed by dinner after maghrib. I follow the same routine. On weekends we both order something from restaurant and just enjoy. It's gives more time for us to relax and spend time praying so we are not exhausted.
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
You can make samosas, rolls, kababs, potato cutlets, chicken nuggets and freeze them.
At our place we usually cut onions/green chillies and freeze them. And we use them for pakoray/dahi baray/channa chaat.
Also freeze dahi baray and then just soak them in luke warm water when you want to use them. We even freeze boondi and boiled chick peas for dahi baray because we put that in dahi baray too.
Oh and you can also make imli chutney and freeze that too. It comes in really handy. Just put it in room temperature for half an hour or so and then use it. We also make tomato paste, ginger/garlic paste and put that in jars to use for quick cooking.

Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
We are planning no Iffatri Ramdan this year. Time will be too short to have Ifftari, dinner & Taraweeh. So It will be
Khajoor + dinner
Ramadan / Iftar Preparation

RAMADAN MUBARIK TO ALL. MAY ALLAH BLESS EVERYONE....

can you whisper this idea in my dear hubbys ears.........he just thinks that iftaars are incomplete with out fruit chaat and dahi baras and then after that he complains about not being able to eat proper dinner
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
^^ we make fruit chat, hubby opens iftar with khajoor, then eats little fruit chaat and then dinner. Sometimes he would eat fruit chaat after dinner. For us fruit chaat is a good way of eating fruit in Ramzan. Sometimes, I'd make other things but then he won't really eat any dinner.
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
What do you guys eat for sehri? leftover salan? My husband doesn’t usually eat cereal, and I can’t think beyond eggs/pancakes/waffles (usually all 3!) ![]()
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
We usually eat left over salan and roti. You need something filling and nutritious, something that will keep you going all day :) Pancakes, waffles etc are a no no in my home during ramadan.
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
We made the samosa filling today and tomorrow we'll assemble them in advance and freeze them. Samosay are the only thing we make in advance. Other items such as fruit chaat, pakoray, etc are made shortly before iftar.
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
somosa and chaat.
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
I wanted to cut up and freeze fruit to make smoothies for iftaar. So far i have strawberries, mangoes and bananas, can anyone suggest anything else?
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
Any berry will freeze well...raspberries, blackberries and blueberries hold up really well to freezing and are excellent additions to fruit smoothies.
Also, peaches would be be good idea.
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
yes i did think of those but they are not available in our season. Would frozen berries be just as good? and canned peaches?
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
Frozen is always better than canned! See if you can find frozen berries and frozen peaches, they are great for smoothies and desserts. I always buy frozen when I want to make my fruit trifles in the winter and berries/mangos or peaches are out of season
Re: Ramadan / Iftar Preparation
thank you, i'll go raid the frozen fruit area of the supermarket
