Ramadan around the world

Salaam, Hi everyone!

Happy Ramadan to all of you. I know, I know… we’re 10 days in. I enjoyed the first 5 days and nights of this month. Mostly the nights, because the temp dropped down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, the nights are just hot and humid and ICKY! And its only June… things are about to get even hotter! I’m wondering how people spend their days and nights around the world? Hmm… drop a line or two, would love to know!

Anyway… wishing everyone a blessed and fulfilled Ramadan!

Re: Ramadan around the world

i can't fast due to health reasons but my family members work during the day, have an afternoon nap [iftar at 9:15 pm]. go to bed after taraweeH at around 12:30 am and are up at 4 am for seHri...after prayers everyone goes to a power nap before heading to work.

on weekends, everyone has more napping time. we are usually invited or we invite friends and relatives for iftaar.

Re: Ramadan around the world

@KKF Sorry to know of your health issues. Get well soon!

We follow a similar routine, except on the days we're not working we stay awake all night and fall asleep after Fajr. What I love most is when we go for prayers at Masjid. It is truly amazing to see Muslims from all ages, ethnic backgrounds and different walks of life praying in a uniform manner to our Lord above. It is encouraging and comforting.

Thank you for replying.

Re: Ramadan around the world

true…and, that’s the spirit of ‘brotherhood and sisterhood in Islam’…'allamah Iqbal very well said:
**
ek hii saf meN khaRe ho gaya MaHmood o Ayaaz
na koii banda rahaa aur na koii banda nawaaz

**[the poor and the rich come and stand shoulder to shoulder [in prayer] that negates the concept of being 'master and slave]

and, at another place he said:

**
fard qaayam rabt-e-millat se hai, tanhaa kuchh nahiiN
mauj hai daryaa meN, be-roon-e-daryaa kuchh nahiiN**

[just like the waves exist ONLY in river/ocean [outside the river, it loses it’s existence once leaves the body of water, similarly, individual exists ONLY as long as he is part of the Muslim Ummah…as soon as he leaves this beutiful union, he is worth nothing!]

Deep quotes! Both are something to reflect on. Thanks for sharing. =)

Re: Ramadan around the world

We have moved to pak for a while and so Ramadan here is really different. No one except my elder sister and I fasts in the house. Everyone wakes up at 9-10am whereas my sis and I wake up at 3-30pm[emoji13]
Surviving those last 4 hours is really difficult. At iftar there is the Normal house food or sometimes dhahi baray. Sometimes we have iftar dinners.
Everyone goes to sleep at around 12am.
My sister and I sleep after praying fajr.
So that's my ramadan[emoji57]

Re: Ramadan around the world

@pak_aus_berry Would you say it’s easier fasting in an “Islamic” country than one that isn’t? In my experience, when people around me are keeping fast, it’s soooo much easier! I believe some companies in Islamic countries that observe a fasting schedule change work and business hours, even school timings just for Ramadan, no? That’s something we don’t have in America!

Re: Ramadan around the world

@Tiara I wouldn't say it's easier, it just depends on the fasting hours. Where I am from, Iftar happens around 4pm and that's a lot of difference compared to the 7-8pm of pakistan plus if you have only fasted in a certain country for your life then changing those patterns is quiet difficult. Lol who around me is keeping fast? Just my sis and I[emoji52]. There at least i have supportive friends and people that i share my experience with. I am not saying any country Islamic or non islamic is good or bad for fasting. Just that opinions differ according to certain lifestyle and for me personally non Islamic country has a plus point from my side. [emoji6]

lol long message this is, sorry[emoji12]

Re: Ramadan around the world

@pak_aus_berry 4pm? what time did your sehri start? I agree with you on the fasting times making it easier or difficult to fast.

oh wait, were you from Australia? I’m guessing that’s the “aus” in your username

May we all witness next Ramadhan and many more to come

Re: Ramadan around the world

I regret my Ramadan. I didn't capture the essence and spiritual connection I wanted to. Ameen to your dua!
