Being one of those who suffers from Diabetes, I have been unable to fast for the last two years as my sugar level tend to rise quite high during the fast. The doctors have advised me against fasting.
Anyone else suffering from Diabetes and having problems fasting?
My dad has diabetes but he fasts everyday Mashallah. But the thing is that he works at night and sleeps in the day, so he comes home at sehri time and eats, then goes to sleep and wakes up in the afternoon and there are only about 3 hours left to the iftaari, so I guess sleeping helps him.
Shikra, you should ask your dad to check his blood sugar before iftar and if it is high than he should consult a doctor. High sugar does long term damage and the thing is that he might not be aware that his sugar levels are high because there are no obvious signs.
I do know that he does check his sugar level almost everyday, but I forgot if he does it before the iftaar or after the iftaar. I will check it out though, thanks.
acutally i'm diabetic too, but i fast almost every day during ramadan. when i'm at school, i don't get home until 5 minutes before iftar, and during the weekend, i don't sleep until sehri time and i wake up around 2-3 pm. maybe that's considered cheating, i don't know, but i havnt had a problem with my blood sugar going crazy

have you actually checked your blood sugar just before iftar. If not, check it.
My mom has diabetes and mashallah she fasts during Ramadan. The nafli rozas she has been avoiding since she was diagnosed. She checks her b.s.l. at sehri time and it is around 110-115. Normally it hovers between 90-100 and she hasn’t had any problems yet Alhamdulillah I am so proud of her :k:
