Rainbow Trout

I dont know what to do with it.

I dont desify fish, cos it always overcooks and overcooked fish is yuck!

My dad wants it with roasted vegi’s which is fine, but he also wants it to be desified.

So im thinking il marinate it desified and maybes shallow fry it with chunky onions, tomatoes (to give my dad the whole masala taste) and what else?

Also what spices go well with Trout?

Fanks!

Re: Rainbow Trout

Well to desify the fish, my mom normally uses your regular spices like salt, red pepper, haldi, garlic paste or powder, haldi, chaat masala and some lemon juice. You can also use shaan fish masala with lemon juice and it gives very yumious taste aswell. Oh and all the desi spices go quite well with trout.

You can also pan grill/steam it. Nicely glaze the pan with oil, then lay your slices of fish and cook them like 3-5 mins on each side on medium low heat. Just cover the pan. Oh and at the end just sprinkle little chaat masala and lemon juice and leave it on dum for 30 secs on low heat.

Or you can just marinate with the above spices and shallow fry it as you were thinking...

Yeah chunky onions and tomatoes kind of stir fried and seasoned taste delish!

You can also marinate the fish with above desi masalas, dip it in besan batter and fry it... very desi and yumious...

Aww bless ya lussi.

I would have most definately have used lemon juice, not sure about chaat masala - cos I hate it! and I dont have any shaan packet mixes, never used them, dont even know how to!

I was also thinking of adding some crushed anardana. Do you think that would complement the Trout?

Re: Rainbow Trout

Oh I normally add dhaniya powder but crushed dhaniya would also compliment trout.

edit: ouch... i read it daniya...my bad...lol...

anardana... hmm..... I have never added crushed anar dana to any fish....i don't think it will taste bad....

Niether have I, but me daddi reckons it will taste good. I dont know, maybes il try it on one piece!

Shan packets are easy, instead of individually adding each masala (garam masala lal mirch etc etc), they're all rolled into one... personally i dont really use them xcept for directions/guidance :@:.. id deff tr anardana powder..oooh this thread is givin me ideas, thx u 2!

my mum always apply's vinegar to fish to get rid of smell from fish. apply for 15 min then wash.
we have always been using SHAN's LAHORI FISH MASALA. its tastes really good.
