Rain related myths

There are many myths and superstitions about rain.

Let me start:

If it rains when someone dies, it is believed that the dead person was a good person and rain is sign of blessing for his / her soul.

when we were kids, v used to say when it rains n sun is also shinning , this means jackal is getting married lolz :cb:

Throughout the Europe, there is a famous superstition that rain can be made to fall if by dipping a holy relic such as an image of a saint or crucifix into a river or lake.

when i was a kid, i use to eat from handi, instead of plate n my mum alwyz use to say k meri shadi mai barish ho gi … :bummer:

I actually believe this…the rain bit I mean…

When I lived in SL long time ago…our house was built right opposite a grave yard (dnt ask why!?), and when ever they buried someone it always rained!!! The clouds would start building up and it would start raining!

Over the period, I kinda started believing this. Many times, on the death of a good and meek person, I observed that it rained for little time unexpectedly.

It is believed in some countries that if rainbow is in the west, it will rain further and if its on east then weather will be fine soon :)

Almost everyone eat from handi, but rain catches the unlucky ones :slight_smile:

Then follow this tradition followed in England for stopping the day.

In England children are made to repeat these lines for stopping the rain:

‘Rain Rain Go away, Come again another day’

paas paRos ke bachon se kaam chal jaega. BTW, is there any superstition for a person born on a rainy day?

Maybe they wait for clouds to build up to proceed with the burial.

Seems a universal supersitition
