Re: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the renowned singer, on Wednesday paid a tax of Rs3.5 milli
We must appreciate this effort of RFAK, instead of raising unnecessary objections by using our negative thinking.
The question is not correct that how much he is paid? , it is high or low???
The real question is, shall we and other people will pay tax to Govt like Rahat?
Re: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the renowned singer, on Wednesday paid a tax of Rs3.5 milli
If true, how much tax is should pay on that amount? and how many time a year he is invited to perform in India… still 3.5 million is lot more then many pay in Pakistan, now you can criticize him for paying that as well…

Rahat's income from various activities may fall in various categories including:
(i) Execution of contract (singing or advertisement contracts) subject to tax @ 6%. Normally tax is deducted at source by payer at the time of payment.
(ii) Royalty (in respect of CDs /DVDs) subject to tax @ rates ranging from 7.50% to 25% depending on income of the individual. (25% rate is applicable, when income exceed Rs 1,500,000). He is eligible for credit in respect of any tax paid on such income in India or any other country.
Re: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the renowned singer, on Wednesday paid a tax of Rs3.5 milli

All benefits provided to Zardari, being President of Pakistan' are tax exempted.
Commission income (major source of Zardari's income) is subject to tax @ 10%. Mr 10%! should pay 10% of his 10% as tax.
btw, someone said in another thread that Zardari does a lot of charity, he can have tax credit for such charity, if he chose to pay tax.

True, but India Pakistan do not have tax-treaty ( or do they have it) so the income is taxable in Pakistan...

India- Pakistan have a limited scope treaty covering income from airline business.
The point is, when organisers of music shows in India are required to deduct tax at source, why RFAK was blamed for evading tax.
