Urdu shairi nay hamesha mujhey bahut parishaan or confuse kiya hai. School main tou mujhey Urdu shairi iss liye zehar lagti thi kay meri samajh main nahi aati thi, ooper say mumtehin ko khush karney kay liye, “shair apney mehboob say kehta hai…” ki tamheed baandh baandh kar jo jo guppain mari jaatein woh aik alag qissa hai. Shair farma tou apnay mehboob say raha hota, aur sharma sharma kar hamaray paseenay choot rahe hotey thay.
Anyways, this is not what this post is about. Yesternight I was listening to this ghzal sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, “Rah asaan ho gayee hogi”.
Mujhey pehla shair hi bilkul samajh main nahi aya, agar koyee suhkanshanas yahan maujud hai, tou iss ki wazahat farma kar mujhey mashkoor karey. (Or will it be farmaaye?)
Rah asaan ho gayee hogi
Jaan pehchaan ho gayee hogi
What I don’t understand is:
a) Who is the poet referring to.
b) Is he being sarcastic?
c) Or is he exulting at the fact kay rah asaan ho gayee hai?
And d) Jaan pehchaan honey par woh khush hai, ya muztarib?
And some other theories that are even more absurd. Please help.
Shairi is not for every one. You have to have a illusid mind and feel for contemporary art and poetry.
Usualy under silent circumstances tyhe listener has to draw her/his own conclusion to the refer-ee in the shair.
Rah asaan ho gayee hogi
Jaan pehchaan ho gayee hogi
In this case it could be "communication with the loved one"
Un say pehli mulaqat say ainda kay leye rah assan ho gaye hogi, hitch-kitch-hat khatam ho gaye hogi, dil ka hall aur assani say un tak pohnchay ga,,wagaeira wagaira.
Or
It could be refered to Allah swt in a loving manner, with the above feelings and interpretation. imho
Let your mind loose when listening to such poetry , its more fun that way,,:p
ps; there are no hidden meanings , a s you might suspect.

I agree with you. Shairi is not everyone's cup of tea, but if I had possessed such a lucid mind, would I be bothering all of you.

Laikin kya iss surat main issay 'ho gayee hai' nahi hona chahiye tha? Aur kuch shair aisay hotey hain jin ko aap ishq-e-haqiqi kay maani main bhi lay sakain, laikin iss shair ki yeh tashreeh thori far-fetched lagti hai. but then, perhaps you know better, being a sukhan shanas.
You know, it just occured to me that your explanation does make sense. Sirf yeH kay shair iss surt=e=haal main keh nahi, balkey soch raha hai. He must be wondering whether he has found a way to the heart of the beloved as yet. No I still don’t see the ishq-e-haqiqi connection. But mulling over it for a couple of weeks might do the trick
Aur agar aap sukhan shanas nahi, tou phir I don’t know who can be called it. BTW, I am not always that thick
