I’d rather serve the ball at a human than a wall. Human opponent on the opposite end is more exciting than a wall.
Re: racquetball anyone?
x2, we'll have a match sometime!
well first of all in badminton you dont serve a ball anyways.
secondly in squash and racquetball when someone says they were playing singles, it does not mean they were playing against the wall … there is an opponent ![]()
but thank you for trying
^ I wasn’t trying. I was simply sharing an opinion. And yes, I am aware that there are opponents in squash. But my understanding is that you’re bouncing a ball off a wall. Whereas in badminton, you play across another person as opposed to a wall. It may be a minor detail to you. But I prefer the former sport.
And I know that you don’t serve in badminton. I’m not trying to use the jargon of the sport, but what I mean is that in Badminton you’re hitting the birdie at another person. And I like it that way.

sure dude, always up for it, got my ass kicked yesterday but had a great match. the three things I have to work on are positioning, speed and stamina, speed and stamina will come itself, positioning i have to be more deliberate about because too many times I was not center court and waited too far back or too much to the left or right and a shot i should have picked up was missed..and in some cases I just did not even bother to try, too far, too exhausted etc etc.
X_Squared you wrote it well. I got a good mental picture of someone playing racquetball.
Re: racquetball anyone?
Good good. So which part of the body aches the most?

Merci, its just a sport I love.

hmmm, legs..and right arm and shoulder..(or left if you are a lefty)
it is fantastic in terms of calories burnt and with the bursts of play it fits well with the approaches of vigorous short bursts of activity in between more standard activity level.
The calories burnt for one hour of competitive racquetball is around 800.
One of my professors said that if anyone beats him in raquetball he will give him/her a hundred bucks. When he broke his leg mid way through the year, and was in a cast, I challenged him to a game of raquetball. :D
Re: racquetball anyone?
hahaah so did he entertain teh challenge?
Re: racquetball anyone?
nah, he just laffed.

That is good, you get tired of the same workout routines over and over again and need something that's challenging and engaging and raq ball is definitely all that! It requires a lot of stamina, and thats the best part.
Re: racquetball anyone?
racquetball.. hmm.. dont know wat that is.. but why dont u start badminton?...its a great sport.. im top class badminton player.

I am not trying to force my preference of a sport on you, but was trying to emphasize the difference between racquetball and badminton, since you had stated it sounded like badminton..as posted below to remind you.
racquetball........u mean like badminton?
my intention was to clarify that no it was not like badminton :)
PS: you do serve in badminton...its just a shuttlecock (or birdie for yanks) and not a ball
PS2: good that you prefer the badminton, maybe a thread on badminton could be of interest to all badminton fans

never really got into it, plus its very hard to find a place that has badminton and has a good group of people playing, even squash is tough, thats why badminton. But yeah good sport, my sis was uni champ and bros both played for their colleges as well.

dude...if someone wants me to be on a treadmill for more than 30 mins, I will just ask them to shoot me, I get bored..when I played varsity soccer, running to stay fit and build stamina was part of the training regimen and I hated it, absolutely hated it. put me on a racquetball squash or tennis court and I will play until I fall over with exhaustion or better yet on a soccer field and I will gladly run until I puke, but running on its own, especially one a treadmill...bores me to death. only exception is trail running..which I enjoy.
thank god for sports :D
Re: racquetball anyone?
so ur purpose of adapting to new sport is to lose weight?
wat exactly is racquetball? kinda like squash?
Re: racquetball anyone?
Not adpating to a new sport, adapted to racquetball from squash years ago, just restarting playing something I played competitively and just stopped due to schedules, priorities and other reasons, I am playing for the sake of playing and general fitness and fun.
Re: racquetball anyone?
hello - anyone knows a place where I can play both racquetball and squash for a monthly fee membership? I'm in the Al Rayyann District. I have othe racquets with me and would like to continue my playing. Any advise or info is greatly appreciated
thank you -ray

no idea, if you look in the travel forums here, they are split by country and city for major places members are from, a question there may help you more.
