For the following commentary in a thread in PA, I received infarction points from Iconoclast and my comments were removed, despite the fact that others are making the same points (their comments remain).
Iconoclast awarded infarction points because he thought the following statements were anti-Punjabi.
Lets dissect this, shall we?
**It’s pretty widely known that South Punjab has Taliban sympathies and many suicide bombers come from there, as well as that its the home for a few of these jihaadi outfits. ** This is supported and telecasted by news networks when they uncover identities of suicide bombers. Maybe Iconoclast doesn’t watch the news. Furthermore, other guppies are saying the same thing, and their comments ARE NOT edited. Those comments are still there, I just checked. Furthermore, there is NOTHING racist about this statement. We’re saying that terrorist tentacles are reaching into South Punjab, how does this become a racist statement?? When the same comments are made about NWFP or Balochistan, no one blames anyone for being anti-Pashtun or anti-Balochi. Prior to the SWAT iniative beginning, as Taliban were taking over Swat, a group of us were calling for military action in Swat. Were we labelled as anti-Pushtun then? No.
**I’m assuming there probably is spillover into Northern Sindh. ** It is an opinion, nothing more. Also removed. Not anti-Punjabi at all.
**I mean, there are areas in Karachi for crying out loud, where militant ideologies are embraced and where it is rumored that militants have set up cells. ** How is this Anti-Punjab? By Iconoclast’s definition, this should be anti-Sindhi, but that’s not what I received an infarction for, right? Criticize growing extremism in Karachi and you’re a Patriot. Question it in Punjab, and you’re a racist?
**Investigations by police and reports by news suggest there is some presence there. ** Again, facts - being reported by all the major news agencies and multiple posts on PA corroborate it.
**Comon. This is a problem of IDEOLOGY. Just like communism spread, just like fascism spread, this is also spreading. It’s got its tentacles wrapped around Pakistan. Some villages are more affected than others. ** Paragraph has nothing to do with punjabis and was still removed.
**It’s gotten that bad in Swat, but believe you me, where Swat was like maybe 2 years ago, is where some of these other areas in Pakistan are right now. Those villages are probably already undergoing some infiltration and developing sympathies amongst people. That’s how it starts. ** This paragraph has nothing to do with Punjabis - was also removed.
**And then considering that the identity of many suicide bombers comes from South Punjab adds to it. ** Again, based on facts, not opinions. Other commentors in PA say the same thing, and their comments are not targeted.
That’s not to say its the source of the problem, necessarily, or we need to bomb all Punjabis. But there it is - its an issue, and to dissect out a sick mentality and free people from its clutches is easier said than done. - how is this anti-Punjabi? Similar comments were made and continue to be made about the provinces of NWFP and Balochistan, and then its not racism? Quite the contrary, I say we should not be be bombing all the Punjabis as a solution.
I believe Iconoclast has a hidden agenda against me. You can look up how often he has edited my posts, how often he has picked on me in Religion and PA forums, and clearly, despite the fact that I am echo-ing what others are saying in PA forum, I get singled out for my statements. They are inaccurately labelled racist, when there is not one ounce of racism in them. When I comment on growing support of terrorism in Karachi, this buffoon will not edit me at all. When I call emergency over growing terrorism in NWFP, he did not edit me. If I start one on growing support of terrorism in South Punjab, I am now a racist?
