What say YOU about racial profiling? Unfair practice complletely? Fair play? Or somewhere in between?
So you see an early-twenty-ish black male speeding down the street in a lexus. Me? I say its a stolen car. You?
When I go to the airport and the screeners see my last name, I almost invariably get called for special screening. Do I get annoyed? No. I’d rather they be vigilant.
When I am walking down a lonely street and see african americans dressed in pants that are so large that theres literally only a hair or 2 holding up their pants and they’re doing the rap-thang talkin “bad”…yup I cross to the other side. (Note, The one time that I didnt, I got my rear-end grabbed in a meaty paw and shaken and then was told “ooooo, I like THAT white meat”)
So yup I guess I’m racist and I DO think that there is some basis for racial profiling. AND will willingly deal with whatever racial profiling is dished out to me personally because I think its for the betterment of the population.
No Mama u r not that wrong. Sometimes i feel bad but when i see black guys near my car i get alert. sometimes if i'm waiting inside i'll lock doors. i know its bad and sometimes i feel ashamed but just can't help it. But even if i see hippy, homeless goras i do same lol.
there was this funny video i saw that how this store keeper got alerted by black guys entering in his store. they keep following them and didn't see that a white guy actually stole stuff from the store.
I usually associate the following crimes with these racial groups
Fraud - White, Asians, Brown
Murder - Black
Serial Killer - White
Rape - Black/White
Gang Violence - Black
Racist - White
Robbery - Black
Organized Crime - Italians/Russians

That said--yeah I don't like bum black dudes/groups of teenagers walking behind me, esp when its dark. i always pull off to teh corner to check my phone and let them pass.
Completely for it if they do it right. Me a 27 year old Pakistan male who travels through Dubai every 6 weeks. Yes. Profile me. Don't *ing profile the 70 year old muslim man who is travelling with his daughter and grandchildren. That is *ing retarded.
CM, thats the thing here. They have to do idiotic things like that to even things out so that those who are part of the "profile" dont start yelling "I've been racially profiled!"
The ACLU would get their panties all in a twist if say, all muslim males aged 18 to 30 were scrutinized at airports or if all young black males driving new Lexus cars were pulled over and checked out.
exactly. racism rears its ugly head behind a lot of guises, never on its own, in the guise of nationalism/patriotism, religion, vigilance, humour/parody and in some cases, profiling.
Honestly speaking I don't do racial profiling . I get cautious when I see white, black, latino, desi or any person from any race under the sky acting weird. I don't care what race you are, if I don't know you then I am not opening my door for you late at night.
I however do character profiling. Just today I saw bunch of white university students passing me in parking lots with their baggy pants half down. I immideately think they are morons and lack any common decency. I would not want their company.
Because I don't do racial profiling , I hate it when I am stopped at airports for extra security measures.
On personal level its natural. And it depends on past experience + information you get.
Depending on what you have on stake you better be careful
Sitting on sofa and passing comments like "I see ppl beyond their color and demographic" is one thing, dealing with them in an area where if you get shot--police wont find a witness, is an other thing.
There are area in pakistan where if you drive by at night chance are you will get robbed.
In pakistan there many 16-19 year old boys can seriously harm you and they have weapons too.
I mean, are we being racist in our own country??? no.
We are being vigilant.
Black dudes at young age are obsessed with idea of committing crime. So If you come across a wannabe 19 year old black kid ,its ok to be careful around him. BUT being harsh to same 19 old black kid's mother is racism!!!!!!!!!!!!
