Racial discrimination...

Re: Racial discrimination...

one day in canada, there will be a BIGGGGG war, a civil war! based on past history we've seen it and its most likely to happen here. Too many immigrants, making their own little communities, and these communities with some time will turn into larger areas. If god forbid another thing like 9/11 happens in toronto canada, it may cause problems.

Re: Racial discrimination…

You all are saying to say something back. Well, all the times that i know a muslim girl that has been discriminated, it’s usually whenever I’m with my sisters or alone. Never when I’m with my dad or brother. And I guess that’s why my dad tells me not to say anything back to them if they do. Because people in DC are maniacs .

Re: Racial discrimination...

Forget about discrimination in other countries.First we have to put our own house in order.we indian and pakistani discriminate each other irrespective of situation we r in:(

Re: Racial discrimination…

Come on Sadia. How long have you lived in USA? I have been in this country for 8 years now and have not met anything in person as yet. If somebody asks you to take of your shoes (havent had to take off mine yet though I travelled about 7 times after 9/11) you would find a lot of non desi goras are being told to do the same, so its across the board. Yes however if you were illegal in this country prior to 9/11 it would be a different story now. But then lets not forget what the word “illegal” means.

But then yes I have met discrimination, only in our own embassy. Thats the only place in USA where the clerks would assume that you need to kneel down for each and every right of yours. Passport renewal, Visa for Pakistan you name it they have it.

Now talking of discrimination, dont bull**** me on discrimination in Pak against Bengalis, Muhajirs or christians. No there is no discrimination because everybody is treated the same way. You can ask anybody even a Punjabi of his encounter with Police. And Police Ka Hai Farz Madad Aap Ki and Mudad they will.

Mukhtar Mai was no Bengali? was she see we in Pakistan make sure not one community could complain. If Murtaza Bhutto was killed so was Umar Asghar Khan.

Last but not least, when travelling to Pakistan I am scared, but not about my teatment in USA but how I would be treated by out immigration and customs in Pakistan when i am leaving for US.

Re: Racial discrimination…

Very true indeed. My elder sister thinks goras don’t descriminate against desis, it’s the desis that do weird harkatain. I always tell her that she never had to deal with them while she was in school but we do. Goras aren’t as down-to-earth as one might think and most sound like angels in a professional setting. When you deal with them on a social level, that’s when they come out of their shell.
