The Turkish Gown Guru Rabia Yalcin is one of the muslim designers making her debut at New York’s Fashion Week alongside big names such as Donna Karan and Nicole Miller. The Istanbul-based designer dresses in Islamic tradition in public (wears the hijab) and designs gowns that are worn with a headscarf in public and appear to be demure and modest but with a slip of a button can transform into a dress that can be quite provocative (meant to be worn only in front of the husband ofcourse).
The designer deals with turkey’s anti-hijab stance in this way. Her Daughter designs funky hats that cover the hair so that no one at her university can tell she is actually wearing them for religious purposes. People think she is making a fashion statement.
I find this funny:halo:. however…some of the gowns are really cute
interesting, i like a few there. The dresses doesn't have a desi touch to um. Lets see how many would actually buy and wear um. Though i dont think it would appeal many hijabis.
i think the dresses r very prettyn unique but they r certainly not our type.for arab galz its normal.they wear similar revealing outfits in private ladies functions n wear hijab n abayahs when step out in public.anyone living in or around middle east would know what i mean.
