We muslims are generaly aware of procedure of our prayers. It is part of our daily life.
When we bow down for Rukow and then stand up, we have to say two statements
Sami Allah huliman hamida
Rabana Lakal Hamd
I hope i am not making any mistake. Now the confusion arises for me when sometime i hear the arabic wordings in holy kaba prayers ( on tv OR during your visit for umra or hajj) If you pay attention the subordinate Imam officially says :
**Rabana Wa laqal Hamd **
While the people living in Pakistan say the statement I mentioned above during prayers in masjid or anywhere …
I need to understand which sentence is correct and what is the meaning of all these statements we say during our prayers daily.
U kno uv said this what I wanted to ask as well..Big thumbs up2 u…i had exactly da same query..Iv started using da Arabic version i.e. which is used in The Holy Kaba with Wa in between but would people share their thughats here please..
rabbana lak alhamd and rabbana wa lak alhamd r both reported in ahadith....
as r allahumma rabbana lak alhamd and allahumma rabbana wa lak alhamd....
so u can say either of these....
some people (mostly arabs) add "wa alshukr" to the end of this which makes it wrong because that is not reported in any of the ahadith....
Both are correct.
Rabbana lakal hamd will literally mean: Our sustainer all praise is for you.
Rabbana wa lakal ham literally will mean , Our sustainer and all praise is for you
Well, let us apply translation method so that we can understand in a more better way
RABBA: LORD
NA : OUR
WA : AND
LA : FOR
KA : YOU
HAMD : PRAISE
Rabbana Walakal Hamd
(Our Lord) (and for you) (all the praise)
so now its clear that it is ka, since ka means you, it cannot be kha. This was what i felt when i read few posts pronouncing it as kha instead of ka.so i thought........ :)
Anyways the starter of this thread was talking about wa , its up to you sister either way is correct as mentioned by few posters above.Since RABBANA WALAKAL HAMD is the next line we recite after SAMI ALLAHU LEMAN HAMIDA , it mean Allah has listened to the one who has praised him , our lord and for you is all the praise , you can either add wa or not.
Similarly in prostration (sujood) iam curious to now if i can add few more dua from you people??? I was taught Allahummakhfirli later i found few scholars recite Allahhumaghfirli, warhamni, wahdini, wajburni, wa-aafini, warazukhnihi, warafa-ani. OH Allah forgive me, and have mercy on me,and guide me, and strenghten me, and protect me, and grant me sustenance, and raise me ( in rank).
