have this name. is blashphamous to use this family name if you are not a direct decendant of qureshi family?
qureshi, osmani, farooqi, ansari, rizvi, naqvi, zaidi, siddiqui..there are others.
Dont know who are really linked back and who are not. But to each their own. its not blasphemy.
Muhammad is the most commonly used first name in the world. If its use was blasphemous, quarter of the world would be on death row.
I think you have Allah's name's usage confused with Prophet Muhammad's SAW name. Its wrong to use any of Allah's names without attaching 'Abdul' or a similar meaning word as a prefix. There is nothing wrong with using Prophet Muhammad's name, or any name associated with him or his family or clan.
Plus, also consider the fact that the Qureshi family included many kuffar as well. The fact that Prophet Muhammad SAW was a member of this tribe doesnt make the entire tribe holy, just like us being muslims doesnt make us pious just because we share our religion with Prophet Muhammad SAW.

actually the sir name qureshi in india has got nothing to do with the name quresh in the quran
in india the qureshi are mostly butchers by caste and are considered to be a low caste muslims
...and I thought there was no casteism in Muslims :-(
