Lets say, we are living in America, earn in dollars. On Eid-ul-Azha, we do the qurbani in Pakistan. Now here is an example.
Lets say, it takes 100 dollars to do qurbani here in America. convert it in Pakistani rupee (lets assume one dollay = 60 rupees) so 100x60=6,000 rupees. Now we don’t do qurbani in America because it is “too expensive” and send 3,000 rupees in Pakistan to buy a lamb (Lets assume it costs 3,000 rupees in Pakistan to buy a lamb) and do the Qurbani (of course asking our relatives to do it)
because ur intention is to fulfill the qurbani ritual.
also make sure that its meat gets distributed to the needy and poor who otherwise may not be able to afford meat and cook it.
It doesn’t take Rs 3000 for qurbani during eid ul Azha time, it is always Rs 5000+.
My parents do qurbani in pak and it costs them somewhere b/w Rs 5000-6000 (including the kassai’s charges, they normally charge Rs 500 per lamb/goat)
Well the way you are doing Qurbani it is OK. But if you feel that you have to do Qurbani for equivalant to what you could have spent in USA then do more then one Lamb/ Sheep OR buy a whole COW / bull for your Qurbani only.
Some people prefer to ask friend and family memeber to do it on their behalf as they do not want to run arround to look for A place where they can slaughter Sheep/Cow and then finding the needy. The easy way out is to send money back home making excuse that they can not do it and they let their Friend and Family members take care of all the dirty work.
IT IS PREFERED THAT ONE SHOULD SELECT THE BEST ANIMAL AND THEN DO THE QURBANI AND DISTRIBUTE. Every work involved in Qurbani is regarded as a good deed.
Allah do not need Zakat OR meat from Qurbani. The whole purpose of this is to see what one can do for Allah. The other purpose is to get to know the needy and poors in your area so that you can help them from time to time.
I have given a scenerio (example) to explain my question.
Bookworm,
You have understood my question to some extent. In this scenerio, I have clearly tried to explain the intention is to do the cheeper and conservative way. When a person lives in America, earns here why would the currency equivalence be brought into qurbani this way. Lets assume there are no proper arrangemnts in America for the traditional Qurbani (which I strongly doubt) then the price of the animal should be calculated in American dollars and not in Pakistani rupees. And if in this situation, there are no proper arrangments in America for the usual qurbani, the amount in US dollars should be sent to Pakistan, doesn't matter if the amount exceeds the price of an animal there.
