Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

So I was about to make qorma but when I added meat to the fried onions I just couldn’t stand the aroma. I decided to boil the meat first instead of making the salan my usual way. So I added lots of water and after I cook that for a while I am gonna strain out the water and take things from there.

Will that help?

Any other techniques to get rid of the smell?

Please reply asap! Thankyou.

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

Sajal, put lots of ginger/garlic paste, and bhuno.

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

I have heard it from a few people and also my mom says that if you let the meat sit for a while in some water and vinegar mix it kills the smell...
Never tried it myself...!!

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

While bhuno-ing, add vinegar.

Next time, marinate the meat before cooking.

Nikki, I added some vinegar but just couldn't take the smell so decided to give it a boil and see how that works.

Same, yeah guess i'll have to bhoonofy it a little more than usual.

chips, I'll try the water/vinegar mix next time.

The smell is killing me. :(

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

I hate to say this but, Ok nevermind, that would be very bad :bummer:

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

Boiling makes the smell worst, :smack: …fat dissolves in gosht making it more smelly. Its like frying gosht in fat. Sajal aap ne likh parh ke zaya kiyaa ..

What say it?

Really? :bummer:

Ab mai kia karoon? :crying:

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

I will never cook red meat!

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

Sajju, if the meat smells sooooo bad, just throw it away..Ok don’t :frowning:

I, on the other hand, got such yummy qurbani ka gosht…just made pulao and it smells awesome :bummer:…sorry.

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

Always defrost before cooking. and i don't mean to say u should do it in microwave. remove the meat u have to cook from freezer a while before cooking. Add a generous amount of ginger garlic paste in meat, mix, and then put it in a strainer so all the water runs out of meat. it wont smell then.

re: Qurbani ka gosht and SMELL!

If there is a stronger smell and its not something normal then its most likely meat has been spoiled. Its probably a wise idea to discard it. Sorry
