Qur'anic definition of "night"

so when according to your understanding is nightfall as described in the Qur’an?

Not sure what the context is, for this question, but just to get the discussion started, I always think of night from the time we offer maghrib prayers. Is there something else, we should be aware of?

when the sun sets....

as is obvious from these verses....

Quran 91:1-4
By the sun and his brightness
And the moon when she followeth him
And the day when it revealeth him
**And the night when it enshroudeth him *
*

well contexts could be many.. layl-at-al Qadr for one.. or the iftar time too.. both explicitly use "Lail" not "ghuroob al shams" to denote night.

armughal .. 91:1-4 only suggests that night "conceals" the sun.. the translations most used are: "draws a veil over it" or "conceals it".. to me that would mean complete darkness.

well then go on and dig the Quran to find the exact reading a light meter shud show to know that night has well and truly arrived....
