I want to learn more on how Quran came into existence. Ayats were brought in by hazrat Jibrail to Mohammad (SAW). I would like to know how they were written, when and who wrote them. I heard full Quran was compiled 40 years after Mohammad (SAW)'s death. Not sure if this is all true. I also heard at first nothing was written and ayats were memorised and passed on from Mohammad(saw) to sahabas. Contradiction I have heard is that everything was written as soon as ***Wahi ***came to Mohammad(SAW). Any Quran and hadith references will help. thanks

traditional accounts at certain places do contradict the Quran. It refers to itself as a book, complete, widely published on "parchment", written by "noble scribes"... so to just say that it was only memorized or was initially written on bones and leaves is a problem of a certain kind (we are past inconsistancies)...
