Quran Recitation at Wedding

Hi All,

I’m looking for suggestions of what ayahs/surahs (short) can be read during the introduction/dua at my wedding. Thanks in advance!

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

Errrmm....the short surahs.

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

lol..the surahs that talk about marriage and husband/wife..just google you will find..however just some advice, please don't do it if the wedding is going to be mixed and everyone is going to be all dressed up with their hair being uncovered and the music is going to go on right after the surah finishes .

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

I think the person who reads the nikkah would know what he's supposed to read....other than that I don't know anyone reciting Surahs and verses during or after the wedding. For blessings, you can read any verse or Surah...it doesn't have to be marriage related. Short Surahs are at the end of the 30th Juz.

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

Thank Hareem, I'm just looking for a short surah/dua/ayah to start the night off with.

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

Oh okay, I didn't really understand your query at first...in that sense...I really like this verse.

[30:21] Among His proofs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, in order to have tranquility and contentment with each other, and He placed in your hearts love and care towards your spouses. In this, there are sufficient proofs for people who think.

And also this one is very famous from Surah Baqarah...but it's actually not the complete verse, just a part of a bigger verse.

They are your garments and you are their garments. [Surah Baqarah, verse 187]

^ thanks.

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

We recently attended a wedding, where after the bride came in and prior to the speeches, a beautiful dua and the sanctity of marriage was said for the couple. Noone was allowed to tape it, otherwise I would have. The speaker was a close family member of the bride.

After the speeches, the music flowed and the dancing began !

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

Ninjamummy- that's similar to what I'm wanting at my wedding, Inshallah. Do you happen to remember what dua it was?

Re: Quran Recitation at Wedding

I have to disagree with this......
I see no reason why a good thing should be discouraged regardless of what else is scheduled to happen.
You never know who may gain hidayat from it.
