This forum is lined with quotes from Sahi this, sahi that, tafheem-e-this, tafseer-e-that, and subsequently, all those quotes are followed by refusals, denials, and villifying attacks.
Did anyone ever care to read the Quran, and its translation, as is?
A tafseer is a listing which outlines the background of every surah in the Quran…known as “shaan-e-nuzool”.
Tafheem is a book which paraphrases the meaning of the surahs, and blends in the personal views of the author.
And practically every compilation of Ahadees these days is known as a “Saheeh something”.
Now the writers of these books may be learned scholars and maulanas and what not, but we arent. What we do is we go to the cliff notes without reading the text book, thinking thats all we need. We always look for a shortcut.
I suggest everyone here read the Quran, read its translation, and you will all be surprised at how many concepts of yours get cleared up without having to consult a tafseer. And a lot of issues that we think are one way, might turn out the other way if we take the time to read Quran and sort out our misconceptions.
The Holy Quran is not a book of theorems and corollaries. Its not something that needs effort to digest. It was made for the whole ummah…each and every human being on this earth. And Allah SWT has provided each human being with the only two ingredients needed to understand the Quran…the heart and the mind. The mind to memorize and understand it, and the heart to hold the faith.
Kindly take the time to read the Quran and its translation. It would serve us much better to see issues discussed here using Quranic quotes…because in doing so, there really wont be any opposing arguments much like we have when we quote from tafseer A and tafseer B. Quran is the one book all muslims agree upon, and it does not contain any conflicting points. Whereas using other books as tools, we will continue to go on and on and on. That, i can guarantee you now, will never solve anything. I, for one, will never be convinced by a quote from any book other than the Quran…and same is the case for most of the other members here. So why use ur favorite guides? Why not use the one book that everyone agrees upon, and the book that actually matters?
54:17. And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember.
