as much as you are right, its also proven that we can transfer our naik amaal to other people (sometimes through unintentional acts like doing gheebat, and sometimes through intentional acts like doing Haj-e-Badal). Transfer of amaal is valid for both dead and livings. When you read Quran, you get sawab. All you are doing is that you are asking allah to transfer that sawab to those who are gone cause they cannot do it for themselves anymore.

I understand what you are saying but if it were truly such a good practice, why didn’t the Prophet do it himself?

How is a Qur’an Khani a Khatam when no one has read the entire Qur’an themselves? I think this is the real issue when it comes to whether or not this practice should be practiced.

Take any chapter book for example. If you give one chapter to one person, and another to another person what good or benefit is it going to give you? Nothing. And yet, the Qur’an is THE Divine Book from Allah and we should treat it with utmost respect, no? Why divide it into chapters and spread it around to read?
