This concept of ibaadat has been taken so far that only a fraction of muslims specially from indian sub-continent read Quran with translation.
I am not even sure if not understanding it and reading it counts as ibaadat-It was assumed as if everyone would know Arabic when any such hadith was said...
We have no hadith which says Quran needs to be read with 'translation' for same reason!!!!!
People think their job is done by reciting it without ever in their lifetime read full Quran with meaning. The same people will go to Hajj, Umrah every year or whatever but will never open Quran and read its translation to understand what they were reading all their lives!!!!
Religion is not a ritual!!!
Hope this clarified my take on it.
Reading it and not understanding it does have its own reward. Of course understanding it as well is better, but still we should not underestimate the value of simply reading it.
