Quran and Ulima

I’ve been running into this ‘argument’ a lot lately so I think addressing it here would be a good idea:

What are your views on how an individual should view Islam as a religion?

Moreover, do you think the Quran is for the understanding of solely the ‘alims’ or can any individual (with adequate desire) seek and gain knowledge from the holy book?

If the first point of view is taken, then a person would rely on Alimz to explain, conclude, etc - everything in the Quran.

If the 2nd is looked upon, the individual would depend on his/her intellectual skills to fully understand the book.

Ofcourse, there would be several exceptions. ie: understanding quran, but at ‘points’ contacting alims , etc.

Underlining, is the quran for alims/muftis only (who are to explain it to the rest of us), or is it for every single person who wants to understand its content?

Everyone is going to hell and I’m driving the bus.**

Very Interesting question indeed by X-Communist.
I will wait and see what others have to say then i would think about sharing my own views.

By the way what do u get paid to drive the bus to the hell? how big is the drive and what sort of customers do u normally get?

  1. my wages are quite high.
  2. the drive isn’t long–trust me.

  1. ‘sort’ isn’t the word you should be using-if you know what i mean

And as for those who strive to meet US - WE will, surely, guide them in OUR ways. And, verily, ALLAH is with those who do good. [al-`Ankabut 29:69]
Dear X-Com, your question is answered in this verse. Very simple no need to follow a maulvi uncle or an alim. Allah promised to guide all those who struggle to seek Him.
