Quran and Hadith

Observing the mud-slinging exercise by the “Shia” and “Sunni” debatErs in these columns is very sad. Alas, everyone here is holding “Ahadiths” and so called “Sahees” for their argument sake. I am here to say the following about the importance of Quran & Hadith, Lets see how many readers second my opinion.

In DEENIYAT a saying or an action of the holy prophet , narrated by an eyewitness is called “Hadith”.

Allah revealed the Holy Quran to His prophet Mohammad (PBUH) with the confirmation that “Deen” has reached its completion (akmalto’lakum deenokum" - at the last cermon. Throught his life , the prophitical work of Mohammad (PBUH) was also the preaching of these holy revelations. After his death, as new ideology came into existance that in Deen the final argument is not only Quran but also Hadith. The extream of the belief is really dangerous. Now, the believers of this “post-prophethood” theory say,"If a contradiction is found in between two ideologies or orders in Quran, one of the two will be regarded as “Nasikh” (obligator) and the other will be regarded as “Mansookj” (Cancelled or superseded).

(Contradiction in divine revelations O wonder!)

Later, as a logical resut, it was believed that if a contradiction is found in between Quran and Hadith, the decision of Hadith will be regarded as “Nasikh” of Quran. In other words Hadith became the authority in Deen and Quran remained only for reciting to perform various ritual acts.

We should never igonore that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) gave only one book to the Ummah, The Holy Quran that we have even today in its perfect and pure form. He (PBUH) always forbade his companions to write from him anything other than Quran. After his death, the Caliphs in particular Abu Bakar and Omar also took care to refrain from allowing any compositions of Hadith in order to avoid any “adultration” in Deen.

An important point can be noticed that all the composers of Ahadith are not Arabs but Iranian!!

Collection of Ahadith, that we have today, was attempted in year 256 Hijri by Imam Bukhari. Other books were written even later. Only Imam Malik’s collection “Mo’ata” was composed earlier but it contained a few ahadith. All these compositions were not made through any previous letirature but it was just “assumed” through verbal stories and incidents. How authentic these narrations, descending from father to son, could be, is not so difficult to visualize. Take a sigle example quote by Imam Bukhar himself that he collected about six hundred thousand (600,000) Ahadith (I agree, its a very impressive hardwaork), from which he “rejected” about about 593,000 and preserved only 7,000 Ahadith in his book. His selection or certification obviously was based on the criterian of his own knowledge and thought. Not to wonder, why such materilas with such weak grounds have that much importance in our Deen. Its due to our LOVE towards the holy prophet Mohammad (PBUH). What-so-ever is attached with Mohammad (PBUH) is acceptable to all of us from the depth of our heart. I am pretty sure that we were exploited emothionally from time to time under different regimes.

About the “Place” of Hidith I second the ideology that we should tele every Hadith with Quran, if it is according to the teachings and the philosophy of Quran, we should accpet it. AND if it is against the teachings and the philosophy of Quran , we should REJECT IT!.

I am 100% agree with Fakhira Butt of Islamabad who had an argument with A11shah in the same section that the true spirit is to say bodly “Hasabna Kitab Allah” (To us God’s revelations are enough).

P.S. May I inquire from Fakhira Butt if she has gone through some books of Allama Ghulam Ahmad Pervez? It is my sincerest suggestion to the young Muslims who are dejected by the conventional religious literatures about Islam, that they should try the work of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Niaz Fateh Puri, Ghulam Jilani Burq, Allama Iqbal and Ghulam Ahmad Pervez. I bet they will be stunned to discover the most simple and pure Islam which has “NO CONFUSIONS AT ALL”!

Sophia,i agree with you 100% I think i discussed in the ignorent no. 1 or 11 shah shia boys stupid longass post of repetitious nature.
I know shia have this habit of nick picking & causing unwanted expensive & demeaning rift in the ummah. Thanks god majority of moslem are not like that.

What i find disgusting is twisting & giving meaning to a particular hadith or surah to suit your self cunningly.

They misuse the latitude given in interpretation of principles ,spirit &purpose of the sura .For e.g of something is not specfically mentioned b/c it didnt exist 1500 yrs ago we can extend the meaning to include inventions such as radio t.v.photography to include them even though it as a word dont exist in the koran. For e.g islam prohibits looking at naked bodies but say nothing about photograph of them,it should be understood play boy magzine is not allowed even though it is not specifically banned in koran. If hijab is to cover up breast & hair ,so is important for girls not to flirt on phone or internet even though you may be in hijab.Quran doesnt mention phone or internet but we have common sense to understand the purpose spirit & intention of hijab is to discourage iblees shaitan giving ideas in any of us.

sophia i belive you are sunni....i agree with most of the things you say

sophia you said ISLAM IS SIMPLE.....i agree

You said QURAN IS ALL WE NEED.......i AGREE.....because Ahl-e-bayt can not be sperated from quran..... read quran and find what is the true status of AHl-e-Bayt

and as for you saying AHL-e-BAYT is not just Bibi Fatima (as), Imam ALi (as), Hazrat Imam Hasan (as), Hazrat Imam Hussein (as)..........then this argument is too old and not only shias but sunni aalims recognize it was only these who were AHL-e-BAYT.

Couple of proves (from hazoors (pbuh) life are)

1) Hadith-e-Kissa
2) Event of Mubahila (its in quran too)

These are two out of many events recognized by both shia and sunnis......plz have a look...

Sanam,

Its my pleasure to find a "humkhayal". I really praise your logical approach to explain Islamic rules.

Truly, Quran gives us the basics, it is up to us how to determine the details of everyday life as per these basics.

That reminds me of a point, The best depiction of an ideal human being is in the life style of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Cleaning teeth or taking something for a mouthwash was practised by Mohammad (PBUH. At that time, "Miswak" was the best medium to clean one's teeth. Today, if there are better, easier or time-saving methods available , it would be better to adopt those mediums. Becasue, if one concentrates on "Sunnah" that is to "take hygienic care for teeth" not "to use Miswak" !!

Ramesha, I beg your pardon! I did not mention the term "Ahle-e Bayt" in my message so what are you talking about?

I said what was true to my knowledge and belief, If you being a Shia disagree I would only say: lakum deenokum wal yadeen" (to you your way and to me my way!) becasue I am neither a Shia nor a Sunni but only a Muslim.

The object of the debate among muslims should be to bring them closer, to develop better understanding and to wash out differences. I never had any other intention.

Sophia Mujahid

Here's what you say and its significance:

1) "In other words Hadith became the authority in Deen and Quran remained only for reciting to perform various ritual acts."

Sunnah(includes hadiths)as authored by bukhari, muslim, etc has become EQUAL to Quran and in some cases is SUPERIOR to the Quran. It is the sunnah that decides how the sunnis pray, fasts, do hajj, give zakat. It's the sunnah that determines the sunnis' interactions with their fellow beings, charity, education, women issues, jehad, etc.

2) "We should never igonore that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) gave only one book to the Ummah"

Originally, there were 7 versions in different dialects of quran. Hazrat Usman(ra)appointed a small group of the Sahaba (close friends of Prophet Muhammad(saw)) to consolidate the Quran and the original codices were destroyed.

3) "To say boldy "Hasabna Kitab Allah" (To us God's revelations are enough)."

You still need an "Interpreter & Guide" unless you're suggesting that we all follow the Quran in whichever way suits us. The Interpreter & Guide for majority is still the sunnah while for minority it is the Ahle Bayt Imam descended from the holy 5.

4)"becasue I am neither a Shia nor a Sunni but only a Muslim."

At the present, The Sunnis are ordered to follow 1 of the 4 sunni taqleeds, to be outside the 4 taqleeds or a 'free thinker/spirit' is to be a heretic or 'goomrah'.

I disagree (I am sorry!)

Quran was revealed to Mohammad (PBUH) in the language of Um Al qur'aa (Mecca). What was revealed is available in its pure form today and will reamin as it is till the "day of justice" beacase Allah has undertaken: "Nahno nuzzalna wa inna la'ho hafizoon" (We have revealed it and We are to safe-guard it")

I don't believe in theoryies that it was compiled it by Sayedna Usman or so. My faith is that such an important work can not be "missed" by the Holy Prophet. Its a known fact that Holy Porphet took the maximum care to save it in the same form which we have today. He (PBUH) had appointed "katibeen e Wahi" those who where appointed to write the "wording" hearing it directly from Mohammad. Ammer Moa'via (father of Yazeed) was one of them, so it seems such logics were "fabricated" purposely by "some". So any theory differing with this fact is not acceptable to our school of thought.

Originally, there were 7 versions in different dialects of quran. Hazrat Usman(ra)appointed a small group of the Sahaba (close friends of Prophet Muhammad(saw)) to consolidate the Quran and the original codices were destroyed.

That is true to an extent that the Caliphs destroyed some literature at various times. Thier crietaria was again the orginal version of Quran. So it further confirms that there is no possiblity of any addition or subtraction to/from the origianl version. It should always be remembered that the Caliphs also "bunrt" various records of narrantions related/attached to Mohammad (PBUH) which after remain in verbal form even after till the books of Ahadith were composed.

You still need an "Interpreter & Guide" unless you're suggesting that we all follow the Quran in whichever way suits us. The Interpreter & Guide for majority is still the sunnah while for minority it is the Ahle Bayt Imam descended from the holy 5.

No! We don't need any other book. Our belief is that Quran is "mukammil" a complete book. Secondly, it is defined (in Quran)as "Kitaabbu(n) Mobeen" means "easy to understand book". So the theory that Quran can not be understood without the help of some other "helping" books is not acceptable. It is not "Gupt Vidiya" , not for a particular family or group but it is for everyone. Just read it and disregard the confusing stories in the side lines then watch the difference.

At the present, The Sunnis are ordered to follow 1 of the 4 sunni taqleeds, to be outside the 4 taqleeds or a 'free thinker/spirit' is to be a heretic or 'goomrah'.

The concept of Imams also came into existance after the death of Holy Prophet. Technically or literaray there is no harm in choosing an Imam all the times. But why Imams are also stopped? Ok, Prophethood is no more needed but what about Imams? As a matter of fact, Always, everywhere there exists a person who has seniority to other muslims who can explain or impose rules as per the Quranic philosophy. It is required to "choose" such a Imam and should authorise him to confirm what is true and what is false. Till then, an individual must concentrate on Quran in spite of "clinging" to other books. Quran is the light which helps you to come out of dark.

The funniest point about the importance of Ahadith is that in Sahee Muslim there is a narration:

The messenger of Allah said," Don't write from me anything other then Quran. If somebody have written something, delete it"
!!

May Allah divert us to Quran once again so that we could finish our difference and be united becasue "zalikal kitabo la raib a feeh"!

I would like to mention once again that who-so-ever work hard to compose the books of Ahadith had no bad intentions but he did it in good faith. But the "narration" which are saved are not always true even to the composer themselves. So they had to catagorized Ahadith as Sahee, Matwater, Musalsal, Dha'eef or even Waza'ee. Wa'zee means: fabricated. So such collections are no match to Allah's book. So any Hadith which differes with the Quran is never accpetable to me a least.

I think all your parents have done a terrific job with you particularly Sophia you have good pronounciations of arabic to prove that.i basicaly concentrate on basic (what may be termed islam for dummies or otherwise democratic slogan ‘keep it simple ,stupid.’

Greetings of Peace to one and all.
Dear Brothers and Sisters.

We all know that not all of us have the capacity to comprehend
everything all the time and in view of the fact that Islam is being
dicussed by some of the participants on this forum ( mostly in
ignorance) , I am posting “Islam for dummies” ( not that you are a
dummy) but to get a clearer idea of what Islam is and what Islam is not
(according to how you may have perceived it). READ!

The Meaning of Islam

ISLAM is derived from the Arabic root “SALEMA”: peace, purity,
submission and obedience. In the religious sense, Islam means submission
to the will of God and obedience to His law.

Everything and every phenomenon in the world, other than man is
administered TOTALLY by God-made laws i.e. they are obedient to God and
submissive to His laws i.e. they are in the STATE OF ISLAM. Man
possesses the quality of intelligence and choice, thus he is invited to
submit to the good will of God and obey His law ie. become a Muslim.
Submission to the good will of God, together with obedience to His
beneficial law, i.e. becoming a Muslim is the best safeguard for man’s
peace and harmony.

Islam dates back to the edge of Adam and its message has been conveyed
to man by God’s Prophets and Messengers including Ibrahim( Brahma in
Hinduism), Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Islam’s message has been restored
and enforced in the last stage of the religious evolution by God’s last
Prophet and Messenger Muhammad.

The word Allah ( is translated to mean God in the English language) , or
more accurately The One and Only Eternal God, Creator of the Universe,
Lord of all lords, King of all kings, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
The word Allah to mean God is also used by Arabic speaking Jews and
Christians.

Articles of Faith

Allah, the One and Only God

A Muslim believes in ONE GOD, Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty,
Merciful and Compassionate, Creator and Provider. God has no father nor
mother, no sons nor was He fathered. None equal to Him. He is God of all
mankind, not of a special tribe or race.

God is High and Supreme but He is very near to the pious thoughtful
believers; He answers their prayers and help them. He loves the people
who love Him and forgives their sins. He gives them peace, happiness,
knowledge and success. God is the Loving and the Provider, the Generous,
and the Benevolent, the Rich and the Independent the Forgiving and the
Clement, the Patient and the Appreciative, the Unique and the Protector,
the Judge and the Peace. God’s attributes are mentioned in the Qur’an.

God creates in man the mind to understand, the soul and conscience to be
good and righteous, the feelings and sentiments to be kind and humane.
If we try to count His favors upon us, we cannot, because they are
countless. In return for all the great favors and mercy, God does not
need anything from us, because He is Needless and Independent. God asks
us to know Him, to love Him and to enforce His law for our benefit and
our own benefit and our own good.

Messengers and Prophets of God

A Muslim believes in all the Messengers and Prophets of God without any
discrimination. All messengers were mortals, human beings, endowed with
Divine revelations and appointed by God to teach mankind. The Holy
Qur’an mentions the names of 25 messengers and prophets and states that
there are others. These include Noah ( manu) , Ibrahim (Brahma),
Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Their message is the same and
it is Islam and it came from One and the Same Source; God, and it is to
submit to His will and to obey His law; i.e., to become a Muslim.

Revelations and the Qur’an

A Muslim believes in all scriptures and revelations of God, as they were
complete and in their original versions. Allah, the Creator, has not
left man without guidance for the conduct of his life. Revelations were
given to guide the people to the right path of Allah and sent down to
selected people, the prophet and messengers, to convey it to their
fellow men.

The message of all the prophet and messengers is the same. They all
asked the people of their time to obey and worship Allah and none other.
Ibrahim, Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad who were revealed their own
book of Allah, were sent at different times to bring back straying human
being from deviation to Right Course.

The Quran is the sacred book of the Muslims. It is the last book of
guidance from Allah, sent down to Muhammad, peace be upon him, through
the angel Jibraeel (Gabriel). Every word of it is the word of Allah. It
was revealed over a period of 23 years in the Arabic language. It
contains 114 Surahs (chapters) and over 6000 verses.

The Qur’an deals with man and his ultimate goal in life. Its teachings
cover all areas of this life and the life after death. It contains
principles, doctrines and directions for every sphere of human life. The
theme of the Qur’an broadly consists of three fundamental ideas: Oneness
of Allah, Prophet hood and life after death. The success of human beings
on this earth and in the life hereafter depends on obedience to the
Quranic teaching.

The Qur’an is unrivalled in its recording and preservation. The
astonishing fact about this book of Allah is that it has remained
unchanged even to a dot over the past fourteen hundred years. No scholar
has questioned the fact that the Qur’an today is the same as it was
revealed. Muslims till today memorize the Qur’an word by word as a whole
or in part. Today, the Qur’an is the only authentic and complete book of
Allah. Allah is protecting it from being lost, corrupted or concealed.

The Angels of Allah

There are purely spiritual and splendid beings created by Allah. They
require no food or drink or sleep. They have no physical desires nor
material needs. Angels spend their time in the service of Allah. Each
charged with a certain duty. Angle cannot be seen by the naked eyes.
Knowledge and the truth are not entirely confined to sensory knowledge
or sensory perception alone.

The Day of Judgment

A Muslim believe in the Day of the Judgment. This world as we know it
will come to an end and the dead will rise to stand for their final and
fair trial. On that day, all men and women from Adam to the last person
will be resurrected from the state of death for judgment. Everything we
do, say, make, intend and think are accounted for and kept in accurate
records. They are brought up on the Day of Judgment.

One who believe in life after death is not expected to behave against
the Will of Allah. He will always bear in mind that Allah is watching
all his actions and the angles are recording them.

People with good records will be generously rewarded and warmly welcomed
to Allah’s Heaven. People with bad records will be fairly punished and
cast into Hell. The real nature of Heaven and Hell are known to Allah
only, but they are described by Allah in man’s familiar terms in the
Qur’an.

If some good deeds are seen not to get full appreciation and credit in
this life, they will receive full compensation and be widely
acknowledged on the Day of Judgement. If some people who commit sins,
neglect Allah and indulge in immoral activities, seem SUPERFICIALLY
successful and prosperous in this life, absolute justice will be done to
them on the Day of Judgement. The time of the Day of Judgement is only
known to Allah and Allah alone.

Qadaa and Qadar

A Muslim believes in Qadaa and Qadar which related to the ultimate power
of Allah. Qadaa and Qadar means the Timeless Knowledge of Allah and His
power to plan and execute His plans. Allah is not indifferent to this
world nor is He neutral to it. It implies that everything on this earth
originates from the one and only creator who is also the Sustainer and
the sole source of guidance.

Allah is Wise, Just and Loving and whatever He does must have a good
motive, although we may fail sometimes to understand it fully. We should
have strong faith in Allah and accept whatever He does because our
knowledge is limited and our thinking is based on individual
consideration, whereas His knowledge is limitless and He plans on a
universal basis. Man should think, plan and make sound choice, but if
things do not happen the way he wants, he should not lose faith and
surrender himself to mental strains or shattering worries.

The Purpose of Life

A Muslim believe that the purpose of life is to worship Allah.
Worshipping Allah does not mean we spend our entire lives in constant
seclusion and absolute meditation. To worship Allah is to live life
according to His commands, not to run away from it. To worship Allah is
to know Him, to love Him, to obey His commands, to enforce His laws in
every aspect of life, to serve His cause by doing right and shunning
evil and to be just to Him, to ourselves and to our fellow human beings.

Status of Human Being

A Muslim believes that human being enjoys an especially high ranking
status in the hierarchy of all known creatures. Man occupies this
distinguished position because he alone is gifted with rational
faculties and spiritual aspirations as well as powers of action. Man is
not a condemned race from birth to death, but a dignified being
potentially capable of good and noble achievements.

A Muslim also believes that every person is born Muslim. Every person is
endowed by Allah with spiritual potential and intellectual inclination
that can make him a good Muslim. Every person’s birth takes place
according to the will of Allah in realization of His plans and in
submission to His commands. Every person is born FREE FROM SIN. When the
person reaches the age of maturity and if he is sane, he become
accountable for all his deeds and intentions. Man is free from sin until
he commits sin. There is no inherited sin, no original sin. Adam
committed the first sin, he prayed to Allah for pardon and Allah granted
Adam pardon.

Salvation

A Muslim believes that man must work out his salvation through the
guidance of Allah. No one can act on behalf of another or intercede
between him and Allah. In order to obtain salvation, a person must
combine faith and action, belief and practice. Faith without doing good
deeds is as insufficient as doing good deeds without faith.

Also, a Muslim believes that Allah does not hold any person responsible
until he has shown him the Right Way. If people do not know and have no
way of knowing about Islam, they will not be responsible for failing to
be Muslim. Every Muslim must preach Islam in words and action.

Acceptance of Faith

A Muslim believes that faith is not complete when it is followed blindly
or accepted unquestioningly. Man must build his faith on well-grounded
convictions beyond any reasonable doubt and above uncertainty. Islam
insures freedom to believe and forbids compulsion in religion (one of
the oldest synagogues and one of the oldest churches in the worlds is in
Muslim countries).

A Muslim believes that the Qur’an is the word of Allah revealed to
prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel. The Qur’an was revealed from
Allah on various occasions to answer questions, solve problems, settle
disputes and to be man’s best guide to the truth. The Quran was revealed
in Arabic and it is still in its original and complete Arabic version
until today. It is memorized by millions.

A Muslim also believes in a clear distinction between the Qur’an and the
Traditions (called Hadiths) of the Prophet Muhammad. Whereas, the Qur’an
is the word of Allah, the Traditions of Prophet Muhammad (hadiths i.e.:
his teachings, sayings, and actions) are the practical interpretations
of the Qur’an. Both the Qur’an and the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad are
the primary sources of knowledge in Islam.

Application of Faith

God has laid down for a Muslim four major exercises of faith, some are
daily, some weekly, some monthly, some annually and some are required as
a minimum of once in a lifetime. These exercises of faith are to serve
man’s spiritual purposes, satisfy his human needs and to mark his whole
life with a Divine touch. These major exercises of faith are:

Prayer (Salah)

Praying, to the Creator on a daily basis, is the best way to cultivate
in a man a sound personality and to actualize his aspiration. Allah does
not need man’s prayer because He is free of all needs. Salah is for our
benefit which are immeasurable and the blessings are beyond imagination.

In salah, every muscle of the body joins the soul and the mind in the
worship and glory of Allah. Salah is an act of worship. It is a
matchless and unprecedented formula of intellectual meditation and
spiritual devotion, of moral elevation and physical exercise, all
combined.

Offering of salah is obligatory upon every Muslim male and female who is
sane, mature and in case of women free from menstruation and confinement
due to child birth. Requirements of salah: performing of ablution
(Wudu), purity of the whole body, clothes and ground used for prayer,
dressing properly and having (or declaring) the intention and facing the
Qiblah; the direction of the Ka’bah at Mecca.

Obligatory Salah: Five daily salahs, the Friday’s noon congregation
salah and the funeral salah.

Highly recommended salah: Those accompanying the obligatory salah and
the two great festival salahs.

Optional salah: Voluntary salah during the day and night.

Times of Obligatory Salah:

  1. Early Morning - after dawn and before sunrise.
  2. Noon - after the sun begins to decline from its zenith until it is
about midway on its course to set.
  3. Mid-afternoon - after the expiration of the noon salah time until
    sunset.
  4. Sunset - immediately after sunset until the red glow in the western
    horizon disappears.
  5. Evening - after the expiration of the sunset salah until dawn.

Salah should be offered in its due time, unless there is a reasonable
excuse. Delayed obligatory salah must be made up. In addition to the
prescribed salah, a Muslim expressed gratitude to God and appreciation
of His favours and asks for His mercy all the time. Especially at times
of, for example: childbirth, marriage, going to or rising from bed,
leaving and returning to his home, starting a journey or entering a
city, riding or driving, before or after eating or drinking, harvesting,
visiting graveyards and at time of distress and sickness.

Fasting

Fasting is abstaining completely from eating, drinking, intimate sexual
contacts and smoking from the break of dawn till sunset. It is a
matchless Islamic institution which teaches man the principle of sincere
love to God. Fasting teaches man a creative sense of hope, devotion,
patience, unselfishness, moderation, willpower, wise saving, sound
budgeting, mature adaptability, healthy survival, discipline, spirit of
social belonging, unity and brotherhood.

Obligatory fasting is done once a year for the period of the month of
Ramadan; the ninth month of the Islamic year. Recommended fasting every
Monday and Thursday of every week, three days in the middle of each
Islamic month, six days after Ramadan following the Feast Day and a few
days of the two months before Ramadan. Fasting of Ramadan is a worship
act which is obligatory on every adult Muslim, male or female if he/she
mentally and physically fit and not on a journey. Exception: women
during their period of menstruation and while nursing their child and
also in case of travel and sickness.

Charity Giving (Zakah)

Charity giving is an act of worship and spiritual investment. The
lateral meaning of Zakah is purity and it refers to the annual amount in
kind or coin which a Muslim with means must distribute among the
rightful beneficiaries. Zakah does not only purifies the property of the
contributor but also purifies his heart from selfishness and greed. It
also purifies the heart of the recipient from envy and jealousy, from
hatred and uneasiness and it fosters instead good-will and warm wishes
for the contributors…

Charity giving is an act of worship and spiritual investment. The
lateral meaning of Zakah is purity and it refers to the annual amount in
kind or coin which a Muslim with means must distribute among the
rightful beneficiaries. Zakah does not only purifies the property of the
contributor but also purifies his heart from selfishness and greed. It
also purifies the heart of the recipient from envy and jealousy, from
hatred and uneasiness and it fosters instead good-will and warm wishes
for the contributors.

Zakah has a deep humanitarian and social-political value; for example,
it frees society from class welfare, from ill feelings and distrust and
from corruption. Although Islam does not hinder private enterprise or
condemn private possession, it does not tolerate selfish and greedy
capitalism. Islam adopts a moderate but positive and effective course
between individual and society, between the citizen and the state,
between capitalism and socialism, between materialism and spiritualism.

Zakah is paid on the net balance after paying personal expenses, family
expenses, due credits, taxes, etc. Every Muslim, male or female who at
the end of the year is in possession of the equivalent of 85 g of gold
(approx. $1400 in 1990) or more in cash or articles of trade, must give
Zakah at minimum rate of 2.5%. Taxes paid to government do not
substitute for this religious duty. Contributor should not seek pride or
fame but if disclosing his name and his contribution is likely to
encourage others, it is acceptable to do so.

The recipient of Zakah are: the poor, the needy, the new Muslim
converts, the Muslim prisoners of war (to liberate them), Muslim in
debt. Also employees appointed to collect Zakah, Muslim in service of
research or study or propagation of Islam, wayfarers who are foreigners
in need of help.

The Pilgrimmage (Hajj)

It is a pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once in a lifetime and it is
obligatory upon every Muslim male and female who is mentally, physically
and financially fit. It is the largest annual convention of faith on
earth (in 1989: 2.5 million). Peace is the dominant theme. Peace with
Allah, with one's soul, with one another, with all living creatures. To
disturb the peace of anyone or any creature in any shape or form is
strictly prohibited.

Muslim from all walks of life, from every corner of the globe assemble
in Mecca in response to the call of Allah. There is no royalty but
loyalty of all to Allah, the Creator. It is to commemorate the Divine
rituals observed by the Prophet Abrahim and his son Ishmael, who are the
first pilgrim to the house of Allah on earth; the Ka'bah. It is also to
remember the grad assembly of the Day of Judgement when people will
stand equal before Allah.

Muslims go to Mecca in glory of Allah, not to worship a man. The visit
to the tomb of Prophet Muhammad at Madena is highly recommended but not
essential in making the Hajj valid and complete.

Islam is a Code of Life

It is a Muslim belief that Muhammad's mission was for the whole world
and for all the time; because:
Its universality has been clearly confirmed by the Qur'an (Surah 7:
verse 158, 6:19, 34:28, 81:27).
It is a logical consequences of the finality of his prophet hood. He had
to be the guide and the leader for all men and for all ages.
Allah has provided, through him, a complete code which is to be
followed, and this in itself supports the concept of finality, because
without completeness, the need for other prophets would remain.
It is a fact that during the last 1400 years no man has arisen whose
life and works bear even the slightest resemblance to that of a prophet.
Nor has anyone presented a book which could be remotely considered a
divine communication. Still less has there been a man to claim
legitimate authority as a law-giver for mankind.

The mission of Muhammad, as well as of other prophets who brought the
universal message of Islam, does not end with the announcement of the
message. He has to guide the people by explaining to them the
implications of the Islamic creed, the morale code, the divine
injunctions and commandment, and the form of worship that sustains the
whole system. He has to exemplify the faith so others can pattern their
participation in the evolution of Islamic culture and civilization. The
believers must grow under his guidance into an organized community so
that Allah's word will prevail over all other words.

  1. Spiritual Life: prayer (salah), fasting, charity giving (zakah),
pilgrimage (hajj), love for Allah and His Messenger, love for truth and
humanity for the sake of Allah, hope and trust in Allah at all times and
doing good for the sake of Allah.

  2. Intellectual Life: True knowledge based on clear proof and
indisputable evidence acquired by experience or experiment or by both.
The Qur'an points to the rich sources of knowledge in the whole
universe. Islam demands faith in Allah on the basis of knowledge and
research and leaves wide open all field of thought before the intellect
to penetrate as far it can reach.

  3. Personal Life: purity and cleanliness, a healthy diet, proper
clothing, proper behavior, and good healthy sexual relations within
    marriage.

  4. Family Life: A family is a human social group whose members are bound
together by the bond of blood ties and/or marital relationship and
nothing else (adoption, mutual alliance, common law, trial
marriage...etc.). Marriage is a religious duty on all who are capable of
meeting its responsibilities. Each member of the family has rights and
    obligations.

  5. Social Life: Man is ordained by Allah to extend his utmost help and
kindness to other family members, relations, servants and neighbors. No
superiority on account of class, color, origin or wealth. Humanity
represents one family springing from the one and the same father and
mother. The unity of the humanity is not only in its origin but also in
    its ultimate aims.

  6. Economical Life: Earning one's living through decent labor is not
only a duty but a great virtue as well. Earning is man's private
possession. The individual is responsible for the prosperity of the
state and the state is responsible for the security of the individual.
The Islamic economic system is not based on arithmetical calculations
alone but also on moral and principles. Man comes to this world
empty-handed and departs empty-handed. The real owner of things is Allah
alone. Man is simply a trustee.

  7. Political Life: The sovereignty in the Islamic State belongs to
Allah; the people exercise it by trust from Him to enforce His laws. The
ruler is only an acting executive chosen by the people to serve them
according to Allah's law. The State is to administer justice and provide
security for all citizens. Rulers and administrators must be chosen from
the best qualified citizens. If an administration betrays the trust of
Allah and the people, it has to be replaced. Non-Muslim can administer
their personal life of marriage, divorce, foods and inheritance
according to the Islamic law or to their own religious teachings. They
may pay Zakah or a different tax tributes "Jizyah". They are entitled to
full protection and security of the State including freedom of religion.

  8. International Life: Man has a common origin, human status and aim.
Other people's interests and right to life, honor and property are
respected as long as the right of Muslim are in tact. Transgression is
forbidden. War is only justified if the state security is endangered.
During war, destruction of crops, animals and homes, killing
non-fighting women, children and aged people are forbidden.

Sanam! you are requested to pay attention to the following points to realize what errors you made in your article.

Muslim faith (Iman) has 5 fundamentals (compare your sequence with Quran):

"Aamanto billah, wa malai'kate hi, was kotobihi, wa rosolihi, wal yaumil aakhir"

So the Iman is based on 5 basics i.e. (1) Allah (2) Angels (3) Books (4) messengers (5) the day of judgement

Here, I have only to point out the right sequence and ommission of "Qadar e Khair or shurr" which is an addition in the basics, Mind it!

Then see the Islamic Social Code both for an individual and society i.e (1) Declaration (to believe in oneness of God and the prophethood of Mohammad) (2) Salath (not limited to the rituals but has a much wider perspective) (3) Saum (4) Zaka(t) Not charity (sadaqat) but governmental taxation (5) Huj

Another point about the Prophets, As per Quranic confirmation, God has sent his messengers unto every human society. Though only a few names has been mentioned in Quran but another figure of 124,000 (meant to be: a number of) is also given. Ibrahim (in English he is pronounced as Abraham and not "Brahma" the Brahma of Sanskrit literature comes from the time of yore) and his son Ismael are the ancastors of Mohammad.

Am I right, Sanam?

The funniest point about the importance of Ahadith is that in Sahee Muslim there is a narration:
The messenger of Allah said," Don't write from me anything other then Quran. If somebody have written something, delete it"<<

The prohibition of writing down the hadith was early on in the mission of the Messenger(saw), in order to avoid confusion with Qur'an and what the Prophet(saw) prohibited was writing the Qur'an and Hadith on the same piece of parchment. For the Qur'an is the speech of Allah, to be recited (e.g. prayers), whereas the Hadith is not.
But this initial prohibition did not negate the fact that the hadith were not to be memorized and followed.

In fact there are many narrations of the Prophet(saw) ordering his companions to write down his sayings. Here are just a few.

When Allah gave victory to His Apostle over the people of Mecca, Allah's Apostle stood up among the people and after glorifying Allah, said, "Allah has prohibited fighting in Mecca and has given authority to His Apostle and the believers over it, so fighting was illegal for anyone before me, and was made legal for me for a part of a day, and it will not be legal for anyone after me. Its game should not be chased, its thorny bushes should not be uprooted, and picking up its fallen things is not allowed except for one who makes public announcement for it, and he whose relative is murdered has the option either to accept a compensation for it or to retaliate." Al-'Abbas said, "Except Al-Idhkhir, for we use it in our graves and houses." Allah's Apostle said, "Except Al-Idhkhir." Abu Shah, a Yemenite, stood up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Get it written for me." Allah's Apostle said, "Write it for Abu Shah." (The sub-narrator asked Al-Auza'i): What did he mean by saying, "Get it written, O Allah's Apostle?" He replied, "The speech which he had heard from Allah's Apostle ." (Muslim & Bukhari(3/613)).

So the Prophet(saw) said: "Write it for Abu Shah."

Abu Hurayrah said: "There is none among the companions of the Prophet who has narrated more Hadiths than I except 'Abdullah bin Amr (bin Al-'As) who used to write them and I never did the same." (Bukhari 1/113)

So the companion Abdullah bin Amr used to write them down, while Abu Hurayrah chose not to, for he preferred memorization alone.

Prophecy In The Puranas

The compiler of the Puranas, Mahrishi Vyasa, is highly honored among the
Hindus as a great rishi and learned person. He was a pious and God
fearing man. He also wrote the Gita and the Maha Bharat. Among the
eighteen volumes of the Puranas is one by the title 'Bhavishya Puran,'
literally meaning future events. The Hindus regard it as the Word of
God. The prophecy containing Prophet Muhammad by name is found in Prati
Sarg Parv III: 3, 3, Verse 5.

Before the English translation is presented, a note on the word Malechha
that appears in the first part of verse 5 is in order. The word Malechha
means a man belonging to a foreign country and speaking foreign
language. This word is now used to degrade people meaning unclean or
even worse. Its usage varies and depends on who is using it and for
whom. Sir William Jones had great difficulty in recruiting a Pundit to
teach him Sanskrit because he was considered unclean (Malechha). It was
only after the direct intervention of Maharaja (King) Shiv Chandra that
Pundit Ram Lochna agreed to teach him Sanskrit.

It is not known when this word began to be used in the derogatory sense,
whether before the advent of Prophet Muhammad (s), after the conversion
of Hindu King Chakrawati Farmas (of Malabar, located on the southwest
coast of India) to Islam during the lifetime of the Prophet, soon after
the arrival of Muslims in India (711 CE) or sometime later. Mahrishi
Vyasa, the compiler of the Puranas, has defined a wise Malechha as "a
man of good actions, sharp intellect, spiritual eminence, and showing
reverence to the deity (God).

The Sanskrit text and translation of Verse 5 of Bhavishya Puran, Prati
Sarg Parv III: 3, 3 are given below.

A malechha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking foreign
language) spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name
will be Mahamad...

The translation of Verses 5-27 (Sanskrit text of the Puranas, Prati Sarg
Parv III: 3, 3) is presented below from the work of Dr. Vidyarthi.

"A malechha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking foreign
language) spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name
will be Mahamad. Raja (Bhoj) after giving this Mahadev Arab (of angelic
disposition) a bath in the 'Panchgavya' and the Ganges water, (i.e.
purging him of all sins) offered him the presents of his sincere
devotion and showing him all reverence said, 'I make obeisance to thee.'
'O Ye! the pride of mankind, the dweller in Arabia, Ye have collected a
great force to kill the Devil and you yourself have been protected from
the malechha opponents (idol worshipers, pagans).' 'O Ye! the image of
the Most Pious God the biggest Lord, I am a slave to thee, take me as
one lying on thy feet.'

"The Malechhas have spoiled the well-known land of the Arabs. Arya
Dharma is not to be found in that
country. Before also there appeared a misguided fiend whom I had killed
[note: e.g., Abraha Al-Ashram, the Abyssinian viceroy of Yemen, who
attacked Mecca]; he has now again appeared being sent by a powerful
enemy. To show these enemies the right path and to give them guidance
the well-known Mahamad (Mohammad), who has been given by me the epithet
of Brahma is busy in bringing the Pishachas to the right path. O Raja!
You need not go to the land of the foolish Pishachas, you will be
purified through my kindness even where you are. At night, he of the
angelic disposition, the shrewd man, in the guise of a Pishacha said to
Raja Bhoj, "O Raja! Your Arya Dharma has been made to prevail over all
religions, but according to the commandments of 'Ashwar Parmatma (God,
Supreme Spirit), I shall enforce the strong creed of the meat-eaters. My
follower will be a man circumcised, without a tail (on his head),
keeping beard, creating a revolution, announcing call for prayer and
will be eating all lawful things. He will eat all sorts of animals
except swine. They will not seek purification from the holy shrubs, but
will be purified through warfare. Because of their fighting the
irreligious nations, they will be known as Musalmans (Muslims). I shall
be the originator of this religion of the meat-eating nation."

Prophecy In Kuntap Sukt (Atharva Veda)

The third Mantra (verse 3) of the Kuntap Sakt is: Its translation by
Pandit Raja Ram is given below:

"He gave the Mamah Rishi a hundred gold coins, ten chaplets, three
hundred steeds and ten thousand
cows."

The root of the word Mamah is Mah which means to esteem highly, honor,
revere, to magnify and to exalt. The word "Mohammad" means "the praised
one" in Arabic. In Sanskrit, many Muslim names are used with a slight
change. For Example, 'Mahmud' Ghaznavi, who briefly ruled parts of
India, is referred to as 'Mamud' Gajnavi. Therefore, Mamah is synonymous
with Mohammad when the full meaning of the verse is considered. In
Hinduism, the word Rishi means a teacher of mystical knowledge or
Prophet, and may include someone who is divine.

The hundred gold coins refer to the early companions of Prophet
Muhammad, eighty of whom migrated to Abyssinia to escape unbearable
persecution. In Shatpath Brahmana, a revealed commentary of the Yajur
Veda, the gold is metaphorically used for denoting the high spiritual
power of a man.

The ten chaplets refer to ten excellent companions of Prophet Muhammad,
who were given the good news of Paradise by the Prophet. They are known
to Muslims as 'Ashra-i-Mubbashshara.' Their names are - Abu Bakr (ra),
'Umar, 'Uthman, 'Ali, Talha, Zubair, 'Abdur Rahman ibn 'Auf, S'ad bin
Abi Waqqas, S'ad bin 'Zaid and Abu 'Ubeidah (may Allah be well-pleased
with them). They are the distinguished personalities about whom the
Vedas speak of as Dash ashrijah - 'ten bouquets from the Paradise.'

Three Hundred Good Steeds (horses of Arab Breed) refers to those
companions of Prophet Muhammad who fought at 'Badr.' (Their actual
number was 313; however, in many prophecies the numbers are usually
rounded up). The Sanskrit word Arvah means a swift Arab horse
particularly used by Asuras (non-Aryans).

Ten Thousand Cows refer to ten thousand companions who accompanied the
Prophet when he conquered Mecca. The Sanskrit word 'go' is derived from
gaw meaning to go to war, and it is used for both an ox and a cow. A cow
or an ox as described in the Vedas represents both as a symbol of war
and peace and amity. We find both these qualities in the companions of
Prophet Muhammad. They were saintly men, pious and compassionate like a
cow, and they were fierce and strong in establishing peace and justice.
The English translation of the mantras (verses) 1 through 13 of the
Kuntap Sukt (Atharva Veda) was taken from the work of Pandit Raja Ram
and other Hindu translators, and is given below. The text in ] is
added to elaborate or explain the context of the verses for the reader.

  1. Listen to this O people! a praiseworthy shall be praised. O Kaurama
    we have received among the
Rushamas sixty thousand and ninety. [population of Makkah at the time of
    Prophet's triumphant entry in
    Makkah].

  2. Twenty camels draw his carriage, with him being also his wives. The
top of that carriage or chariot
bows down escaping from touching the heaven.

  3. He gave the Mamah Rishi a hundred gold coins, ten chaplets, three
    hundred steeds and ten
    thousand cows. [100 early companions, 80 of them migrated to Abyssinia;
    ten elect companions who
were given the good news of paradise by the Prophet; 313 companions of
the battle of Badr; and 10,000 companions who accompanied the Prophet in
the triumphant entry of Makkah and cleansing of Ka'bah of Idols].

  4. Disseminate the truth, O ye who glorifies [Ahmad], disseminate the
truth, just as a bird sings on a ripe
fruited tree. Thy lips and tongue move swiftly like the sharp blade of a
    pair of shears. [The Prophet's
state when he received revelation through Archangel Jibril (Gabriel)].

  5. The praying ones with their prayers hurry on like powerful bulls.
Only their children are at home, and
at home do they wait for the cows. [Cows refers to companions of the
    Prophet. Prophet's companions strict
adherence to five daily prayers at appointed times. Refers to Battles of
Badr, Uhud, and Ahzab (Ditch or Allies)].

  6. O you who praises (the Lord), hold fast

  7. O you who praises (the Lord), hold fast the wisdom, which earns cows
    and good things. Disseminate
this among the divines, just as an archer places his shaft on the right
    point. [wisdom of the Qur'an].

  8. Sing the high praise of the king of the world or the Light of the
Universe, who is a god and the best
among men. He is a guide to all people and gives shelter to everyone.
    [Prophet Muhammad's qualities].

  9. He who affords shelter to everybody, gave peace to the world, as soon
as he mounted the throne. Men
in Kuru-land are talking of his peace-making at the time of the building
of the house. [Kuru means one
who protects a house in Hebrew and Kore means a house. It refers to the
first house of worship, the Ka'bah. In this sense, Kuru-land means the
land of Koreish. This Mantra refers to the rebuilding of the Ka'bah five
years before Muhammad's prophethood and his role in peace-making when
each tribe of the Koreish (Quraish) wanted the sole honor to put the
Black Stone at its right place and disputed to the point of threats to
fight each other. The Black Stone is a celestial material and is the
    only remaining part of the
original building material of the Ka'bah].

  10. In the realm of the King, who gives peace and protection to all, a
wife asks her husband whether she
should set before him curd or some other liquor. [Due to Prophet's
    protection and commandments, women
could travel freely long distances without any escort or fear].

  11. The ripe barley springs up from the cleft and rises towards heavens.
The people prosper in the reign
of the king who gives protection to all. [people rise from the depth of
degradation to the height of glory].

  12. Indra awoke the singer of his praises and asked him to go to the
people in every direction. He was
asked to glorify Indra, the mighty and all pious men would appreciate
his effort and God would bestow on him His rewards. [The Prophet sent
letters to several kings and rulers in every direction inviting them to
    Islam].

  13. Cows, horses and men multiply and increase here, because here rules
the one who is bountiful and
splendidly generous who gives thousands in charity and sacrifice.
    [qualities of the Last Prophet].

  14. O Indra, let these cows be safe, and let not their master be harmed.
And let not an enemy, O Indra, or
a robber overpower them. [Indra refers to God and cows to saintly
    followers of the Prophet].

More Prophecies In Atharva Veda

Atharva Veda X, 2, 28: [On Ka'bah]

Whether it is built high, its walls are in a straight line or not, but
God is seen in every corner of it. He
who knows the House of God, knows it because God is remembered there.

The Ka'bah is not exactly cubical and its sides are not of the same
length. The Holy Sanctuary (Haram) of which Ka'abah is at the center
remains open day and night throughout the year and it is always filled
with people praying to Allah (the One True God). Muslims face toward it
during prayer forming circle in the Haram (Holy House) and the circle
extends out in this manner throughout the planet Earth.

Atharva Veda X, 2, 31:[On Holy Sanctuary (House) and Ka'bah]

This abode of the angels has eight circuits and nine gates. It is
unconquerable, there is eternal life in it
and it is resplendent with Divine light.

The holy sanctuary (Haram) of which Ka'bah is at the center remains open
day and night throughout the year and it is always filled with people
praying and supplicating to Allah (the One True God). It has remained
unconquerable. Abraha Al-Ashram, the Abbysinian viceroy of Yemen, tried
to demolish it in 570 CE with a strong army and hordes of elephants but
was prevented from entering the city (Holy precinct). The people of
Makkah had decided not to defend the Ka'bah, fled the city and took
refuge in nearby hills overlooking Ka'bah. By Allah's Command, the
'Abaabeel' (flying creatures, birds) pelted stones at
Abraha's army and decimated it, leaving them like green crops devoured
by cattle. This incident is described in the Surah (chapter) 105 of the
Qur'an. The year 570 CE is popularly known by the Arabs as 'The year of
the Elephant,' and Prophet Muhammad was born in that year.

Dr. Vidyarthi points out the following facts. The House of God has nine
gates - Baab-e-Ibrahim (Abraham) ,
Baab-al-Wedaa, Baab-as-Safa, Baab-e-Ali, Baab-e-Abbas, Baab-un-Nabi,
Baab-as-Salaam, Baab-az-Ziyarat, and Baab-e-Haram. Further, the eight
circuits are the natural lines enclosing the areas between the
surrounding hills, the names of which are: Jabal-e-Khaleej,
Jabal-e-Qaiqaon, Jabal-e-Hindi, Jabal-e-Laalaa, Jabal-e-Keda,
Jabal-e-Abu Hadidah, Jabal-e-Abi Qabees, and Jabal-e-Umar.

Atharva Veda X, 2, 33: [On Abraham and more on Holy Sanctuary and
Ka'bah]

Brahma (Abraham) stayed in this abode which is illumined by heavenly
light and covered with Divine
blessings. It is the place that gives (spiritual) life to the people and
is unconquerable.

The Ka'bah was built by Prophets Abraham and Ismail. It has remained
unconquerable as explained in the preceding verse. Many verses of the
Holy Qur'an and of the Old Testament in the Bible describe the divine
blessings in this Holy house.

Prophecy In Sama Veda

The Sama Veda contains many prophecies of the advent of Prophet
Mohammad. Here, one of them is presented. It is found in Sama Veda,
II:6,8:

"Ahmad acquired religious law (Shariah) from his Lord. This religious
law is full of wisdom. I receive
light from him just as from the sun."

Prophet Muhammad's other name was Ahmad (both are from root letters h, m
and d), both words have the meaning the "praised one" except the latter
emphasizes a higher degree to it. The Holy Qur'an states that Prophet
'Isa (Jesus, pbuh) mentioned the last Prophet's name as Ahmad.

Prophecy In Rig Veda

Rig Veda V, 27, 1:

The wagon-possessor, the truthful and truth-loving, extremely wise,
powerful and generous, Mamah
[Mohammad] has favored me with his words. The son of the All-powerful,
possessing all good
attributes, the mercy for the worlds has become famous with ten thousand
[companions].

It refers to ten thousand companions who accompanied the Prophet in the
triumphant entry of Makkah and cleansing of Ka'bah of Idols and other
profanities.

More Prophecies In Hindu Scriptures

The Vedas contain many prophecies about Prophet Muhammad. Some European
and Hindu translators of the Vedas have removed the name referring to
the Prophet, while others have tried to explain away the mantras
(verses) on his life events, Ka'bah, Makkah, Medinah, Arabia, and other
events using the terminology of the Hindus, such as purification
rituals, and lands and rivers in India. Some mantras containing
prophecies are inter-mixed with explanatory phrases, and it may be that
these were commentaries and explanatory notes on the prophecies, which
later became a part of the prophecy.

Several prophecies are found in Atharva Veda: (1) XX: 21, Mantras 6, 7,
and 9, (2) XX: 137, Mantras 7 through 9, and (3) X: 2, Mantras 26, 27,
29, 30, and 32. Similarly, in Rig Veda, additional prophecies are found
in: (1) VII: 96, Mantras 13 through 16, and (2) I: 53, Mantras 6 and 9.
Finally, a prophecy is found in Sama Veda III: 10, Mantra 1. These are a
sample of many prophecies. The serious reader may want to refer to
scholarly work of Dr. A.H. Vidyarthi, entitled "Mohammad in World
Scriptures," 1990. This book explains the Hindu terminology used in the
Mantras and the meaning and usage of certain words and phrases from
within the Vedas and other Hindu Scriptures.

No Compulsion In Religion

Qur'an 2:256
There is no compulsion in religion " Truth stand out clear from errors"
And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a
firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower.

What is the problem here. Its clear Islam is quran and hadith and quran and hadith are what makes Islam. If you dont believe in either one of them, you are not muslim. Its simple as that.
Those are long post i would suggest that you make them short...so people would actually read them.

PS. I DID NOT READ THEM!

Wise Man says:>What I say won’t really change anything, but what you say doesn’t really matter!

Sophia I do not agree with you in most parts. You are right on that, Quran is the complete Book of guidance. If you read Surrah 2, Ayah 2 you will find it says “This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah.”

Now this Ayah says this is the Book in which is guidance, if you follow it you will be guided. Quran is not just for Muslims but it’s for all the mankind and jinns. The Book Quran is a Reminder to the once who are lost in faith. There is no doubt Quran has any mistakes. Quran is the exact words of Allah, the One who has created you, me and everything that is around us. Now the Quran tells us to follow Quran and Mohammad(S.A.W.) How else can we Mohammad(S.A.W.) if we do not follow the Hadith. Sophia Hadith are the second source of Islam. We have to follow Quran which I think hardly anyone does in these days also we have to follow Hadith. Again Quran is a guidance for all the mankind and jinns but Hadith is the Sunnah(way) of Prophet(S.A.W.) and his companions. It’s also a story of them. You are right that Hadith is written more than 200 years after the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.) so we can’t be sure 100% that every each Hadith is correct but the once which contradicts with Quran are obviously not true.

If you say that we should not follow Hadith, then my question is this: How else would you know the correct way to pray your Salat(Namaz or Daily Prayer)? Quran does not tell us how to pray our prayers. How else can we learn it if we don’t read the Hadith. My sister, Hadith is the second source of Islam. We have to follow Quran first, and Quran tells us to follow Mohammad(S.A.W.) the only way we can follow him(S.A.W.) is by following Hadith.

You also said that today Quran is left only for recitations. I don’t agree with this. You see we are required to recite Quran in it’s original form but there are Millions of Muslims who read the meanings of Quran and follow as much as they can. Also their are more Muslims who just listen to the recitations of Quran but don’t know what the words mean. We have to know what the words mean and still read and recite Quran in Arabic. Allah says in Holy Quran that We have made this Book easy for you to understand. In now days people take an Ayah and twist it around to fit what they are doing even though they are wrong. There are many Ayahs which once person takes it and twists it to fit what he/she wants to believe and the other takes it and fits it to what he/she wants to believe, with the same Ayah. The only way we can be sure what an Ayah means is if we read the Hadith that talks about that particular Ayah. For example I have seen many Fatwas which say Music is Haram and many say Music is Halal. The once who say it is Halal just take some Ayahs from Quran and twist it to fit what they do. But the once who say it is Haram they take an Ayah from Quran and take a reference from the Hadith which explains that Ayah in detail. I will give you some examples here:

“Say, “Who prohibited the nice things God has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?” Say,“such provisions are to be enjoyed in THIS life by those who BELIEVE. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of resurrection.” We thus explain the revelations for people who know.” 7:32 (QURAN)

Based on this Ayah Submitters(a sect in Islam) made Music Halal. They gave a fatwa in which they said Music is a most beautiful thing and it is forbidden to make good things Haram. Who gave them the authority to translate this Ayah? They made it fit in whatever they wanted to do.

Now here is an other fatwa please click on the link if you would like to read the whole thing: http://www.islam-qa.com/QA/5|Jurisprudence_and_Islamic_Rulings(Fiqh)/Ahkaam_al-Tasliyyah_wa’l-Tarfeeh_wa’l-Riyaadhah/Ruling_on_music_singing_and_dancing.02072000.5000.shtml

They don’t just translate the meanings of Quranic Ayah from top of their head but they went and looked in Hadith and got complete reference from it.

It’s true that today in most sects in Islam they have their own so called Hadith to make things fit what they believe. Imam Bukhari’s Hadith was the first one ever written. If you find a Hadith that belongs to some sect it’s of course going to have different things than the other but you will not find “this hadith belongs to Shia sect” any where. Sects in Islam are never allowed. You said “Shia and Sunni” up on top. How can you compare Shia with Sunni. Shias are not Muslims. Sunnis are Muslims. You will find many books that will say there are two major sects in Islam, Shia and Sunni. But don’t take anything from a Book or internet site just because it’s in print. The True meaning of sect is “some one who goes out of Deen.” If you go and ask an average Muslim is Sunni a sect he is going to say of course. But he is lost too, Sunni is never a sect but it’s a descriptive word. It describes that you follow the way of Mohammad(S.A.W.) but not only that, you also follow what he told to his companions. Quran tells us those who divide their religion into sects have no part in hereafter and they have a dreadful penalty. Please let me know if you would like to know exact Ayah and I will be very happy to search for it for you.

Now lets look at some other sects in Islam.
Submitters- They reject the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad(S.A.W.) which means they reject the Hadith.
Shias- They have created some of their own Hadith and they go out of Deen(Islam) for example:
in the month of Mohorrum they torture their body which Islam does not allow. Life is a beautiful gift given to us from Allah and we should always try to protect our salves not torture our body and say that we are sharing the pain of martyrs.
Qadiani- They say the Shahada “There is no God besides Allah” they reject saying “Mohammad is His Last Prophet” because they call themselves Prophets.

If you go and read their little thing it might seem right to you because you might not have learned the Truth in detail. They all try to convert you to whatever they believe in and give you complete proofs from Quran, and their so called Hadith. So again, my sister, don’t refer yourself as belonging to a sect, Sunni is not a sect. Don’t read anything from just anyone because it might misguide you. If you need help go and ask Alims of Islam. They are not just scholars but Alims, who have spent all their life studying Quran and it’s meanings from Hadith. They can answer you better than I can because knowledge is power. Not the knowledge that we get from school, but the True knowledge of Al-Quran. If you have that you have mastered but education never ends we all learn each and every day.

I hope this was pretty easy to understand if not please let me know and again don’t just go and read anybody’s paper. Salam to all of you.
