quran and gita

"I am He by Whom the worlds were created and shall be
dissolved…There is nothing higher than Me…The whole
world is pervaded with Me, yet My form is not seen. All
living things have their being in Me, yet I am not limited
by them…I, the Supreme Self, am the cause and upholder
of all. Under My guidance, Nature produces all things
movable and immovable…I am the Father of the Universe and
its Mother. I am the Nourisher. I am the Knowable and the
Pure…I am the Goal, the Sustainer, the Lord, the Witness,
the Home, the Shelter, the Lover and the Origin. I am Life
and Death; I am the Fountain and the Seed Imperishable.

The God of India, or the God of Israel, or the
God of China or the God of Arabia, is only one God. There
might be different names but they all refer to the same God.

“Say, ‘Call upon ALLAH or call upon Al-Rahman, by whichever
name you call on HIM, HIS are the most beautiful names.’”
[Quran 17:110]

How? The first one is omni-present omni-potent. The second says has the most beautiful name. How are they the same based on this?

TomSawyer, I belive rvikz's post is targeted at people who are familiar with the attributes ascribed to Allah. Those are basically the same as written in the first paragraph of rvikz's post. And that paragraph is from the Gita (right, rvikz?). So, he is just trying to show that the concept of the God in Hinduism is very similar to that in Islam.

And in the second quote of his post, I feel he was trying to point out that the same God may be called by different names in different cultures.

By the way rvikz, a very nice post.

Yes there are many verses in the Hindu Holy books that present a similar concept of God.

I was watching a program of Dr. Zakir Naik of the Islamic Research Institute, Bombay , India. He mentioned such things.

You can check out his website: www.irf.net

Ko-ran has nothing to do with Gita or hinduism.

Ko-ran is a absolute truth for Mus-lims while Gita is a pagan book ( with all due respect).

To all hindus:

Please don't compare our religion with hinduism. We can be friends and tolerate your beliefs, but don't compare Is-lam with paganism. They are totally different things.

Thanks.

we are talking about nature of god not about how muslims or hindus
practise. read the following verse

The whole
world is pervaded with Me, yet My form is not seen.

yes the God of all human beings, regardless of their belief and religion, is the one and the same (i.e. Allah)....

its high time u hindus realized that and stopped looking at those handmade gods of yours as ur protectors and helpers....

are you saying god grants special privilage to one group of people
according to what they pray to ?
does it really matter if muslim/hindu pray to god for rain
and if it rains shoud they fight who is responisble for rain?

Dear Rv,

Any one, even a damn fool, can narrate whatever is written in any of holy books, just a little thinking process is required, but for one thing I am very sure….

Bukhe pet bhajan na bhae gopala…..

Gandhi wrote a letter to Allama Iqbal from jail, in which he mentioned, that he found a great similarity between Gita and Quran. Iqbal replied:

ye aya-e-nau jail say nazil hoi mujh par
Gita maiN he Quran to Quran maiN hai Gita

kia khob hoi aashti-e-shaikh-o-brahmin
is jang maiN aakhir na ye hara na woh jita

mandir se to be-zaar tha pehlay hi se badri
masjid se nikalta nahiN ziddi hai masiha

mandir masjid hein larwate,
mail karae madhushala....

The sooner we all realise that we shall go back to the creator and so live our lives best we see fit instead of pointing faults in others... try and fix ourselves, the better.
In all religions, including hinduism there is familiar ground, we should try and build bridges over this and stop knocking down any progress that is made.

i always read this one as MASITA :konfused:
