Quitting smoking

Chain smoking is something I picked up a year ago. I`m 23, and for a year now I am doing a pack a day. I really want to quit , I know its bad for health but I just cant seem to stop. My idea of a break from work now is having a ciggerrate. After gym or playing some sport , I crave a ciggerrate. I am thinking of reducing for a year, to something like 5 a day and then eventually quitting it. Any successful quit smoking stories out there ???

Re: Quitting smoking

FYI : Chain smoking is the practice of lighting a new cigarette for personal consumption immediately after one that is finished, sometimes using the finished cigarette to light the next one. It is a common form of addiction.[1]](Chain smoking - Wikipedia)

NOW I very rarely go more than 1 pack ( 20 a day ) but thats usually because the pack finsihes late at night and i dont want to go out and buy another one . Any helpful tips would be appreciated !

Re: Quitting smoking

keep very few with you at a time. Once you put a cigarette between your lips, give it few mins before you light it up, also move to a cheaper brand, that will disgust you from it

Well I’m also a chain smoker but I finally decide to quite smoking in this ramzan and today its 14th of ramzan and I didn’t smoke u can also do that.

Re: Quitting smoking

You can try Nicorette nicotine gum, if you are a chain smoker go for 4mg chew slowly for long time it does help imo, take it as soon as you get craving to smoke after eating or gym or understress etc

Re: Quitting smoking

Well...I have quit smoking once and I recently started it. Was thinking of quitting it in ramdan and its really helping.
Dont quit smoking suddenly.....thats what I wudnt want to do.
Secondly keep some gums with you or something to chew...sweets can help in this..if u feel urge to smoke like right after eating....eat something sweet and chew it for a longer time. Some cotton candy or sugar free bubble gum would do. It may cause you gaining a few kgs but gaining weight is better then keep on smoking. and after workout Drink fresh juice....it really helps.

Good luck and wish me luck too...I have come to 10 fags a day which is still alot :-(

Re: Quitting smoking

I started smoking when I was 13 but at that time I was not a chain smoker, maybe not even regular. By the time I became chain smoker. I think I left it when I was 20 and then started again when I was 23 and got a really heavy chain smoker. Its been 4 weeks (2 weeks before Ramadan), that I stopped it. The main thing is its a test for yourself to control your mind and maybe also your body. I know it would be strange for you people but I tried it myself and it worked for me. When even I use to think that I really need smoking while I have nothing to do then I use to play any game on my mobile or on my computer, if it also don't help then I use to think how much will it cost me and with this money how many people can I help in Pakistan (although I almost never calculated my expenditures). Somehow it is working.

PS1: stopping it means that I smoked maybe twice during these 4 weeks just to keep my body cells happy LOL :p

PS2: MAX I use to smoke was 2 pack (19x2) a day.
