Quit Drinking

Mine 11 months old has quit drinking milk, he was on mother-feed got flu last sunday and since he is never tried or asked for milk, even if we try to give him he just turn his face away, i have no idea what to do.

Although he is getting some formula in him with biscuits and he get his soild and soup…but no milk at anytime (unless it is mixed with biscuits etc) how to get him back on milk???

Re: Quit Drinking

Jesus Christ … Title to theak rakh lo yaar.. I thought u quit drinking … Really really :smack:

Re: Quit Drinking

What does the pediatrician say?

Re: Quit Drinking

^ yup ! what does his dr say ?

your 11 months old need not to be on mother's feed only , he can take formula. It's better than not having anything all. Try to change his bottle or give him milk in sippy cup. My daughter stopped drinking milk just because she started disliking her avent bottle. It's really hard to discover the reasons behind your baby's changing preferences. Also my daughter was having hard time from drinking from the slow flow nipple , once I changed it into fast flow , she loved it !

Re: Quit Drinking

maybe his nasal passage is still blocked? talk to his ped.

Istaghfar… me and drinking :smack::smack::smack::smack:

His ped. says that he should drink it, there is nothing wrong bigtime with him

He refused formula when he was 3 months old and lived on mother feed only, at that time the ped. said it is normal some babies prefer mother's milk on formula... and now he has given up mother's milk as well... not to mention we take the bottle if we have water or his fav. juice in it, but if we try to give him formula in the bottle he just threw the bottle away... we have tried almost all the brand nothing seems to be working

we thought of the same, ped said it is OK, nothing worng there.. the problem is he don't even show the desire for the milk...

Re: Quit Drinking

try feeding him with a sippy cup?

maybe add some juice to his milk...

he is nearly a yr old so milk shouldnt be his main source of nutirion and energy anymore. make his food in milk.. like porrdige... give him youghurt with pureed fruit in it... cheeses of diff kind..

if you can get 16 oz of milk in him in 24 hours.. that is good and enough... if you make porridge in milk, thats 5 oz of milk right there. dont worry bout milk so much... if he isnt drinking it.. feed it to him in one way or another.

if your wife was bfeeding, did she start to eat something new that your son isnt liking in her milk ?

a friend of mine said her son just went off of bfeeding without any sign of sicknness.. she tried everything and then she realized that he would bfeed happily after she had showered and then not feed at all during the day... turned out its insanely hot here making the body sweat and stink.. so the baby didnt like the taste of sweat around the mother's nipple.. she started to wipe her breast with a hot towel and then feed ... the baby was back on to bfeeding... i couldnt stop laffing... who says babies are stupid :D

Re: Quit Drinking

Wow!

The cup thing worked, he drank formula milk and it seems that we was enjoying it... how to add juice to it?

Re: Quit Drinking

if he's enjoying the sippy cup dont add the juice just yet

Re: Quit Drinking

Yeah, he might just be ready to drink like a grown-up!

Re: Quit Drinking

good that the cup thing worked :k:

I was thinking may be he does not like the formula …which brand u r giving him ?

Re: Quit Drinking

thats great news hannibal! its all trial and error... if you give up the baby has no chance since they cant talk just yet... so just try diff things and keep trying :)

dont add juice cuz he is taking milk in its true form

if your baby is developing grown up traits, encourage it... if he is wanting what you are having, give it to him.. if he wants a spoon.. hadn it to him.. keep one for ureself and give one to him... they learn like this :)

hmmm ok, but incase if i have to make one then how to do it?

only few months ago he i use to fit him on my hand and now he makes me run after him...

His ped recommended Similac One when he was born, we continued with it until he refused to have it in a bottle… and then the ped. adviced us to just go with mother’s milk !!! Later we gave him his bicuits and other cereals in formula.. which he didn’t like but never refused…

He loves to have spoon and glass so that he can make some good noise or stuck his hand in the glass while trying to catch the water inside it... he always go for a bite or two of whatever i am having ( for some reason he never tries to take anything from his mom) and i always encouraged him in that... they are quick learner and they learn like this
