Although it is now apparent that no flushing of the Koran occured, I’m just a little bemused by the fact that a bunch of Muslims go start rioting over the supposed flushing of the Koran and seem to quietly accept the murder and assasination of religious clerics.
Something seems amiss about this to me. Killing clerics sparks no outrage but flushing the holy book does.
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Insurgents have assassinated three clerics in Baghdad in an escalating wave of violence that authorities fear is aimed at sparking civil war.
Al Qaeda’s wing in Iraq also warned the country’s Sunni Arabs to take no part in drafting a new constitution, in another sign militants are trying to fuel sectarian tensions. Guerrillas shot two Shi’ite clerics in Baghdad on Tuesday. Mani Hassan, a member of a leading Shi’ite Islamist party, was killed outside his house, and Muwaffaq Mansour was ambushed in his car.

Faisal add "bemused" to your dictionary as well. It will give you variety since you have been using "perplexed" a little too much, thus perplexing all of us.

Afghan leader calls for calm against desecration of Quran
KABUL (Pajhwok Afghan News): Influential Afghan spiritual leader and the leader of the former leading Jihadi party, Pir Sayed Ahmad Gailani, has condemned the recent violence sparked throughout Afgha-nistan by reports of the desecration of the Holy Quran at a US detention center at Guantanamo Bay camp in Cuba, but backed peaceful protest against an alleged act of irreverence and encouraged Afghans to exercise their rights to express themselves freely.
The leader of the party registered for the September parliamentary elections, Mahaz-e-Milli-e-Islami Afghanistan (National Islamic Front of Afghanistan) also asked for justice to be brought to those responsible for the alleged desecration of the Quran.
He hailed Islamic sentiment among Afghans and said it was their god given right to demonstrate but slammed the latest violent demonstrations that disseminated to provinces, leading to the death of more than ten people. He said it was strictly against Afghan law, democracy and Islam to attack innocent civilians and burn down public wealth.
“You learnt about the demonstration in eastern Jalalabad during which a library was torched and a number of copies of Quran, Tafseer and other books were burnt; this in itself is a kind of terrorism,” Gailani told Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive interview.
He added that it was not only Jalalabad, where unlawful and anti-Islamic actions took place, but other provinces were there were scenes of violations against national values, against democracy and human rights which, he noted were condemnable. Gailani blamed what he called foreign influences for provoking the violence. “I guess there were some saboteurs and enemies of security behind some of these incidents,” Gailani observed.
When asked if the desecration of the Quran had really happened as reported by American magazine Newsw-eek, Gailani said the US should first punish perpetrators of the act to avoid further irritation in the Islamic world. He recommends the US authorities consult Afghans about any sensitive actions they plan to take.
“I recommend Americans to consult Afghan leaders about any affairs regarding Afgha-nistan, especially in the US-led war against terror and to take any actions after consultation and understanding with the government,” he said.

I now protest and expect Hamid Karzai’s government to apprehend these terrorists and bring them to justice. Some proud ignorant khar damagh khotay ke ****** ( )these afghans.
Re: Quietly Killing Clerics While Rioting Over Koran Flushing
There is??? In the US, at least, both events are criminal assaults. In fact, you slapping your wife is morally worse because of the fiduciary relationship of trust that is supposed to exist between the two of you. The betrayal is much greater when you slap your wife than if a stranger slaps her.
BTW, it doesn’t really sit right with me that you’d even make such a statement. It’s as if you slapping your wife is something that is even a comprehensible and potentially legitimate thing to do. :nono: I’d sooner cut my own arm off if I ever raised my hand to my wife.
Re: Quietly Killing Clerics While Rioting Over Koran Flushing
Myvoice, you haven't been out of the US before huh? Both of the events are criminal assaults in all parts of the world, but the sad fact is when a husband or boyfriend assaults their mates it is rarely reported. In the good old US of A, it is estimated that on the average of every 3 mins a female is assaulted by her husband/boyfriend. On the average of every 30 mins, it is estimated that she is either raped by them or sexually harassed.
The point is, if you slapped your wife it is bad, but if I slapped her the outrage is enormous. In such a case I would defiantly end up paying for it while you might (statistically proven) get away with it.
Re: Quietly Killing Clerics While Rioting Over Koran Flushing
i dont think it is "apparent" yet. just cuz US administration claims it never happened doesnt mean it didnt. just like the claim of WMD in iraq.
if u cut urself with a knife it wont hurt as much as others trying to put a cut with a same knife. if muslims kill other muslims, its their business.. and they'll resolve it or not how they feel appropriate.
Re: Quietly Killing Clerics While Rioting Over Koran Flushing
The guy who reported is the same guy who reported Clinton and Monica, which later turned true. Many of the guys that came back from gitmo have said it a dozen times that they have seen it with their own eyes, thats what the hunger strike was about in gitmo.
I bet none thought that is what the hunger strike in gitmo was about.
