Re: Quiet wedding....
I didn't cos I'm not married, but my first cousin did, and a couple of family friends did. They kept it really simple, wore heavily embellished salwar kameez and wore some pretty jewellery (one of them wore kalire as well), then they just fed everyone, sat together and took photos.
It was really sweet with all the family together, nice moment for us all.
Re: Quiet wedding....
My cousin got married at home. Only very close family was present. It was so nice, she wore a pishwaas :)
Re: Quiet wedding…
This was an intimate home nikkah but it was beautiful too. Everyone still dressed up because a nikkah is still a wedding ceremony. I think what the bride wears is upto them, a lot of times brides start thinking I’ll just wear something simple and end up with a light worked lehenga instead. A peshwas is a good idea. you could try saris aswell, for something different and unique. I used to think it doesn’t look bridal but it can if it’'s done elegantly.Saw a pic in a mag n loved it.
Home Nikkah
Quiet wedding....
I had a home wedding and I wore a medium heavy lehenga and everybody in the family were moderately dressed. It's been 10 yrs, but I secretly regret having a small wedding. I wish it had been a grand affair :(

My sister just had one...and I think it was beautiful.
She dressed up as a bride, yes. She didn't have a 10 pound lehnga...it was much lighter but she did wear a lehnga.
It was casual yet formal. We were all dressed up, only family and had lots of fun.
Re: Quiet wedding....
I think a quiet wedding is great. Right now I wish I was having one too because there's just too much stress in organising a grand wedding. You should wear whatever you want - don't let the idea of having a home wedding make you opt for something you don't like.
Re: Quiet wedding....
thanks guys for your advice. its helped bring the tension and stress levels down.
i want to wear a lehnga but also like those long anarkali/ lehnga styles, im not sure what they are called? they got long flarey kameez churidaar pjama.
btw Ramzaan Mubarak
