QuaideAzam Trophy Final Habib Bank v Karaci Blues Dec 21-24
Younis Khan’s return to competitive cricket, a month after walking away from the Pakistan captaincy, had grabbed most of the headlines in the lead-up to the match. However, he could do little to arrest the HBL slide, being dismissed lbw for a 14-ball 7. There was also plenty of interest in Karachi fast bowler Mohammad Sami’s form after he was handed a shock recall to the national side last week. He did little of note and his figures (10-1-35-0) make particularly poor reading given that the HBL had slid to 95 for 7 in 27 overs.
Well, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final started today. The return of Younis Khan to the cricket wasnt very good, but most noteable person playing was Mohammad Sami. He was expected to travel but Allah ka Shukar, that he will, at least, not play in the first test match.
All throughout the season Tanvir Ahmed has been making headlines. And yet again in the final, he took 5 wickets but Pakistani team bound reinforcement Mohammad Sami didnt even get a single wicket. This proves again that there is no logic behind Mohammad Sami going to Australia. Lets say he travels after this match is over on Dec 26th (Boxing Day test), he’ll get there in about 12-14 hours. It will already be Dec 27th in Australia. He will be jet lagged. Would take 3-4 days to get adjusted to the timezone difference. PCB is just absolutely beyond logic. Maybe he’ll join them for the New Years Party
re: Quide Azam Trophy Final - Sami & Younis Performance
Recalling Mohammad Sami was probably one of the worst decisions ever made by any PCB administration. Simply pathetic. The guy averages 51.32 in test cricket...the highest average in the world for a bowler who has taken over 50 wickets at that level...and on top of that...he averages over 80 in test matches played in Australia.
So after all this...you must think he peformed really well in domestic cricket to get a sudden recall to the national side...well then u think wrong! Last time I checked on PCB's website, he was ranked at #30 on top bowlers of the season list.
With Moyo as captain..im afraid all these ICL losers will get first preference over youngsters who deserve a chance.
Well he got 7 from 14 and took 2 wickets, which tells me the wicket was very conducive to bowlers, even Karachi Blues only made 215 while HBL was bundled out for 95 and Hasan Raza who has been in good form made only 1…
So lets wait for KBs 2nd innings..
As for Sami, In my humble opinion, I think Waqar is calling the shots now for which bowler he wants as a back up, atleast for Australia. After that it will depend on the results the “boys” will produce under his guidance.
Re: Quide Azam Trophy Final - Sami & Younis Performance
In the same match, Tanvir Ahmad has much better numbers but I guess ‘age’ is the only number going against him. In QeA trophy tournament Sami is not even in top 30
Re: Quide Azam Trophy Final - Sami & Younis Performance
Tanvir Ahmad has been performing well througout this season and making headlines, however he probably doesnt know the right people in PCB thats why he hasnt been called up.
Re: Quide Azam Trophy Final - Sami & Younis Performance
So 1 wicket left for KBs...seems like HBL will need around 200 to win...should be interesting, lets see if they do and who stands out as the batting savior...
Re: Quide Azam Trophy Final - Sami & Younis Performance
I cant believe that PCB is so cheap, and treating some of the best players in the country’s domestic circle to such treatment. Yet Waqar Younis can make 600,000 rupees for only the Australian tour? I am not sure everyone on these teams is as rich as Younis Khan, becauase he is a centrally contracted player, plus he is an idol so I am sure he has much endorsements across Pakistan. So he can afford to buy mineral water for himself during the course of the final. Even the team, like Habib Bank will not buy mineral water for their players? It reminds me of playing cricket for my college and school, where we had to bring our own drinks :-). I thought this was professional first class cricket, apparently not in Pakistan.
**No Mineral Water for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Final **
KARACHI: In an apparent official apathy towards domestic players, the cricketers of the Karachi and Habib Bank teams, playing the final of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy, have been not been provided mineral drinking water, citing fund shortage.
The players are being given ‘filtered’ water from the cooler during the breaks at the national stadium.
Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan, who complained of upset stomach, had to manage mineral water bottles for himself on his own.
“But the water we are giving to the players from the cooler is also filtered,” a ground staff member claimed.
Surprisingly one of the scorers claimed that the scorebook they were using was not provided to them by the PCB.
“The scorers association has repeatedly asked the Board to print and publish its own scorebooks as it is done everywhere else in the cricketing world. But they say they don’t have money so we bring our own personal scorebooks for the domestic matches,” he said.
OK guys, enough ...to keep our hopes high, players do make a comeback to change their career ..lets hope this is one of the case ....his career will change anyway for good or bad after this series :)

Seems like PCB also said the same thing which you said before recalling Sami. Unfortunately this is not the way to function when you are responsble for operating the game of cricket in the country.
Everytime he gets a recall this is what we all hope. Between all those useless recalls how many talented bowlers we have lost? any idea? We are doing the same right now. This guy Tanvir who is bowling with Sami must be thinking what else he can do to get some attention.. apparently 85 wickets in 11 games were not enough to impress the dopeheads at PCB.

There is a DIFFERENCE b/w me and PCB :)
PCB said this to make excuse of hin inclusion while I am saying this because there is no other way to deal with it now .... trauma control you know :D
