My favorite quickie is salad sandwiches...chicken salad, tuna salad, veggie salad, etc. They keep for a few days too so you don't have to worry about them going bad really quick.
You can always pre-marinate chicken and/or fish pieces. Fry/bake them when you need to with some veggies add rice.

It is very tasty, very quick to make (if you have already made samosay and frozen them, or if you dont even have time for that, then buy them) and so filling.

Chicken hara masala.
sautee some onion is oil (dont brown them), add boneless chicken to it along with ginger garlic paste and bhoonify till chicken changes colour. In a blender add some green chillies and half bunch to one bunch of fresh coriander (depending on chicken) to yoghurt and blend. Add this to chicken. Also add salt and pinch of tumeric and bhoonify till water evaporates and oil seperates. In the end I add some bhunna hoya zeera as i like the smell and taste.
This whole dish takes almost 20 to 25 mins.
I also sometimes make hara maslaa marinade, add onion green chillies coriander ginger garlic salt to yoghurt blend it , pour it on chicken and stick it in the oven to bake.

Chick pea salad (it is not really desi, sort of a spin to channa chat)
canned chickepeas, match stick carrots, red or green pepper chopped finely, red onion chopped finely, chopped parsley
Whisk some olive oil with lemon vinegar and salt and freshly cracked black peppers. I also add a table spoon of kraft zesty italian to it. add this to the bowl of mixed veges and chick peas. It is a great side salad

Take two potatoes and cook in microwave. While the potatoes are cooking chop some onions, green chillies and coriander. peel cooked potatoes and add the chopped veges, salt ground coriander ground cumin and red chilli flakes, mash it. And make allo walla parathas with it.
I also sometimes take left over lentils, add them to eggs and make an omelette out of it.
