Foreign students visiting Britain are to be educated in the etiquette of queuing for buses, after local users complained about them not observing the conventions of standing in line.*
Southern Vectis, which operates buses on the Isle of Wight, off England’s south coast, said it was to contact local language schools following several complaints about the behaviour of young students over the summer months.*
“On the Isle of Wight we get lots of foreign language students staying with families,” said operations manager March Morgan Huws.*
"In their cultures, they do not queue for buses where they live and there is a scrum every time a bus turns up, while in British culture there is a nice orderly queue.*
"We have had quite a few complaints from residents who queue up in an orderly fashion then all those foreign students push past them.*
“What we have said is that we will work with the language schools to provide some instructions on the etiquette of queuing. We won’t be marching the students up and down showing them how to queue, we will just leave it up to the group leaders to pass on the information.”*
Orderly queuing – as seen during the recent Northern Rock banking crisis – is seen as a quintessentially British convention. One social anthropologist believes Britons are even capable of forming one-person queues at bus stops.*
But while queue-barging normally leads to tutting, muttered complaints and shuffling to close the gap on anyone looking to barge ahead, most people are too polite to directly confront a transgressor.*

Well the areas, you mentioned bahi , are mainly desi areas . When they are among their own people , they don’t care about these things . Like if ya go back to Pakistan for a month holiday , you will drive in your US style for couple of weeks and then without realizing , will start doing same as others ( stupid driving , hands on horn , speeding , not stopping at signals ) .
So my theory is that , when Desis are crowded by Gora peeps , they become extra cautious and try doing things on merit . Specially if they are fresh on boat , they prefer to do things or copy Gora people , as they have that ‘ oh loog kia kahain gay ‘ Mentality and deep down for sure they don’t like people charging them with this fob impeachment.
Gori/goras are the WORST at standing in line. Like animals they are. Just TRY going to disneyworld during a skool break. The parents will trample over LITTLE ONES so that their little ones get on the ride quicker. We live in New York and this is one of my PET peeves...even the grocery store is like this. My sister calls them "savages" and she can get pretty vocal lol, I'm surprised that we havent gotten beaten up yet with some of the things she's said!!
2 observations here....I NEVER saw this type of behavior in Pak. and during our trip out west, I was SO bowled over by how polite people were in EVERY aspect of life....driving, they'd let you in even in traffic. Polite grocery lines, polite queueing on lines to attractions.
Needless to say, I've been a bit of a thorn in hubbys arse to get OUTTA here!!
Mamaof3, almost all big cities are like that as far as traffic goes (Chicago included). NYC and the rest of the north east coast just takes it up a notch. e.g. Drive down south of Richmond and its all calm until you hit ATL; bypass it and people become nicer again.

Fraudz, don't let 2007 pass by without at least 1 positive about other desis...Last time that happened was in 2003...And that too probably because I joined a year prior to that...
