These are soem of the pics Of Quetta I have taken in November 2004. Look at the sandy coloured hills agianst the blue sky. Quetta is the capital of Balochistan and is about 3 hours from Afghanista, 9 houirs from Karachi, 20 hours from Multan, and about a day’s road travel from Iran.
The major languages spoken in Quetta are Pashtu and then Balochi and soem speak Dari/Farsi/Urdu. A num,ber of peopel also speak Sindhi, Punjabi, Urdu, Turkman, Uzbaki.
Quetta is about 1700 m above sea level approx and the peaks in the background reach upto 3300m approx. Its cools in summer and receives snow fall in winter. Quetta feels a frontier city in every sense but the people are loving. There is not too much to do within the City - but its definitely worth a visit!
Last time I visited there was in the 96. It has its own distictive thing to it. so different compared to rest of the cities, yet so beautifull in its own way. Lake Hanna/Urak (I hope thats the one???) is so pretty. Going there from Quetta, the orchards of apples, apricots and peaches are just breath taking. I've good memories from Quetta ...ah kya yad dila diiya. Thanks for sharing :)
ps. Yes the ppl are so loving and friendly there. And the merchants actually respectful
compared to rest of them u'll spot in various cities of our home land :)
from what i saw and what i heard hana lake is no more......it had dried up....its possible that the recent rains have gathered water here and re-filled the site
