I will be giving the driving test soon (in Pakistan) inshaAllah, and wanted to clear this up:
When is the yellow line used on a road, and when is the white line used?
firstly is it correct that on a motorway, the line on the extreme left side at the edge of the hard shoulder is always a continuous yellow line and the one on the extreme right is always a continuous white line?
what about a dual carriageway other than the motorway; always a yellow on extreme left and white on extreme right in this case as well? Also is the line used to separate the right-turning lane from the rest of the carriageway always white?
what about single carriageway? what are the colours on both the extremes, and what’s the colour of the line that separates traffic coming from opposite directions?
As far as I know both lines mean the same: you cannot cross them under any circumstances if they are continuous. Yellow lines are colored to make they more visible as they mark the edge of the road. You need to confirm this from somewhere as I myself learned on Pakistani roads so naturally I have no knowledge of road lines
