I'm what you all call a "gori" and when I see or hear of a flag being burned, I just think that they are uneducated angry idiots. Does it make ME want to blow myself up? No, I aint one of those jerks. And last, flags are about your NATION. Holy books like the Koran are about your RELIGION. There is a respected disctinction here in the us of a that attempts to keep the two of these things separate. You know I loved Pak when I went to visit, with all my heart. But know what? I never saw the 12 hour workday, the drive to innovate, the drive to accomplish. zOnly the drive to have the easy, pretty life. And blame the dam yanks if you cant quite have that. 4 hour workdays? My GOODness.

Why are some of the guppies so stuck up, Here are a few examples:
Example #1 Certain Punjabi Guppies that find speaking punjabi inferior.
Example #2 Some guppies dont like to be addressed as Tum they need that Aap.
Example #3 Muslim Guppies are very righteous, as if they know all and they are the only creations of Allah, everyone else is beneath them.
Well lets see what happens....dont lose the faith before you even see the results! I mean I've met some Pakis who are "always right" and those who are just absolutely wise. Verisons sis is just one of those who can do no wrong, everything she does is perfect. She is as beautful as a movie star and has raised 4 kids to be good citizens. Shes my idol and I wish she had the time to post here. There are others who I've met who make me want to do really mean things to them. Presuming they know about financial investing when they cant even make ends meet. Or tell me that yes, they know ALL about feeding problems when they have a fussy toddler (as opposed to one who has such severe probs that he'd rather starve than eat.) ack. I could go on and on, spitting and hissing all the way. but I think you can get the idea.....there are good people and bad in every culture, religion, country and however else you want to divide things up. dont sweat it, live your life and be happy, everyone else can just fkoff lol!
^^ But mama you are not punjabi, nor do your understand urdu, and while I consider you a muslim (not righteous), but just an ordinary muslim, doesnt mean that you will be accepted as a full fledge muslim on GS. The standards to be a muslim on GS are very high.

Mama, I have to agree with you - I am also a gori, and equate flag burning with the above. I think that there is a clear difference between desecrating a flag and destroying a holy book. Neither want to make me blow myself up, both make me want to educate the ignorant fools who do it.
and ITA that a lot of the rioting comes from having waaay too much time on your hands - I always had to work 10 hour days, didn’t leave a lot of time for engaging in arson or exploding
My desi dh thinks that what Pakistanis really need is a real work week - he used to tell me stories of burning busses to protest not having enough - go figure

amana - it's all power and powerlessness. When people percieve a lack of power over their lives and destiny, they lash out in one way or another. Some take it out on their family, some lose faith, some burn flags, and some riot and blame America.
