Easter was not a pagan holiday as "pk taz"'s aunt say. The things such as Easter Bunny's laying eggs, hot cross buns, etc. have pagan origins, yes. Unfortunately Jehova's have many wrong teachings, this inter alia.

Jesus could not celebrate Easter because he was not present a year after his death!

Easter is the most revered Christian period as Christians remember (not celebrate!) what Jesus Christ did for humankind (not only for Christians) by dieing and his resurrection.

The date is not determined by Christians but Jews. Easter is celebrated during the Jewish Pesach or Passover, as it was during this celebration that Jesus Christ was crucified.

Oldie, Easter is celebrated by Christians. Resurrection of the Son of God is celebrated. It has never happened to anyone else.

Jesus has risen!!

Greeks even do fireworks on Easter, sometimes live fire.

what did jesus of christianity do for the entire humanity as claimed by christians? if you do not believe in jesus in christianity you are bound to hell, so i m sorry but christianity can not say that jesus died for all humanity.

muslims however believe that jeses AS will come back and rule muslims under an islamic government and when all people will embrace islam, no kafirs will remain in the earth during his reign.

Isa (as) did not opt for the cross himself, he was ordered to be put to the cross by the jews against his will....
if he had power against them, he wud have surely used it to stop them, but with the limited number of followers he had, he was overpowered....

but Allah saved him from the plot of the jews, and he did not die on the cross....

Jesus knew exactly what was to happen and decided not to flee or fight (he could have asked any number of angels to assist him as Satan rightly admitted previously). I refer you to:

  1. Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." - Matt.26v39

  2. "The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who betays him." - Luk.22v22

  3. Then the devil took him to the holy city and made him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will strike your foor against a stone.'" - Matt.4v6

Let Jesus Christ himself explain: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever **believes in him* shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."* - John.3v16-18

Quran 4:171
O people of the Book! commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an Apostle of Allah and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Apostles. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One Allah: glory be to him: (for Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs

Please continue your discussions on the origin of Easter and a comparison of Christian and Muslim beliefs on the crucifiction (sp?) of Jesus Christ (Peace be upon him) in this thread - should you chose to do that.

Thanks.

I suppose "Trinity" is your insertion? Thought it was "Three" in the original.

You have touched on one of the critical differences between Islam and Christianity, although the Prophet Muhammad assumed wrong that "three" pointed to Jesus, Spirit and Mary (no disrespect intended).

and where did u learn that from????

we always, as muslims, have heard that christians trinity means god, jesus and spirit....

Good thinking rvikz...Then if something doesn't have shape or image, why divide it into three?
