You already told me but I find hard to believe that a superpower will not have that level of security.

Finally we agree, with Pakistan its more to do with bad intelligence as well.

Its their security doctrine which is securing the outer perimeter. Stop potential attacks at the outer perimeter which keeps the inner perimeter safe.

What good is a security camera besides the pentagon when a truck bomb full of explosives has already reached the Pentagon?

White House, New york Stock Exchange, and many other sensitive sights have stringent outer perimeter security.

After 9/11, they probably have beefed up their inner layer security as well.
